Creative Balloons & Invitations populates weddings, quinceañeras, anniversaries, and birthday parties with a wide range of invitations and celebratory packs of motley balloons. The DIY invitations provide a huge range of customizable invitation formats, none of which rely on yelling invites to a fête through a parking-cone megaphone. A $10 setup fee applies for in-store printing, and single invitation prices range from $1.20 for a 4"x6" card to $1.85 for a 6"x9" card. Ready-made invitations for birthday parties, anniversaries, and other momentous occasions also stand ready to entice recipients with heartfelt emotions and cavalier carousing. Form a helium-filled force field around a birthday bash or C-SPAN2 viewing party with a balloon arch ($6/foot; $10 travel charge for parties 6–25 miles from the store), or buy balloons one at a time ($.99 each) as an expression of inflatable individuality.

Author and radio host Ken Hudnall leads groups on an informative trek through El Paso's famed, and oftentimes spooky, past during the Downtown History and Mystery Tour. Each traipse through time begins at the Camino Real Hotel, where ominous tales of a distressed bride and the lingering presence of Pancho Villa cast a spectral tone upon the outing's onset. Winding through city streets, Ken and crew stop at the Cortez Building, the Plaza Hotel, and the very first Hilton Hotel, which has hosted several celebrity weddings. As night falls and shadows begin to dance and pants unsuspecting patrons, a stop at the Mills Building—constructed on the site of a hotel that burned to the ground—rounds out the tour's itinerary.

In a world where monsters, aliens, and zombies freely roam convention tables and hatch plans to steal all the autograph markers, luckily there are superheroes around too. At the El Paso Comic Con, it's nearly guaranteed you'll see your favorite freakish idols of page and screen?or at least people dressed up as them?whatever their allegiances may be. In addition to cosplay contests and a convention floor filled with likeminded attendees, EPCON also brings in dozens of vendors who sell comics, artwork, and rarities. Special guests also show up, often including stars from Star Trek or other fantastic worlds from TV and the movies.

The mechanical masterminds at Cycling Journey tune road- and trail-weary bikes and send them home the next day. Maintenance service starts with a thorough cable greasing, which keeps brakes on key for folk karaoke performances. Next, a mechanic realigns wheels and bearings and finishes with a thorough bike bath, distracting it with a rubber ducky while scrubbing behind its handlebars. Additional fees may apply if other parts or accessories are needed. Though additional items are not included in this Groupon, Cycling Journey also sells bike accessories and clothing and maintains its position as a fixture in the local cycling community with weekly rides.
