Since 1962, the motor mavens at Big O Tires have been treating tin lizzies to a slew of services, including their specialty 30-minute express oil changes. The tireless techs speedily slurp out old oil with anteater-esque precision, replacing worn out filters, and rewarding loyal dip sticks with up to 5 quarts of new crude. Following a chassis lubrication, wheel wranglers remove each tire, before moving them and their entire DVD collection to a new home in an adjacent wheel well, helping to guarantee even wear and tear. After a thorough fluid check and preventative maintenance analysis, revamped rides are happily reunited with the owners to depart together into the sunset. Upgrades are available for diesel oil (price based on vehicle and location), high-mileage oil ($10–$15 extra), and synthetic oil ($20–$30 extra).
Time To Shine lathers up landcraft with an automated car wash tunnel that takes less than three minutes from start to finish. With a month of unlimited washes, give a vehicular exterior a serious scrubbing whenever the mood strikes, without the hassle of hooking up hoses or the expense of transforming three-piece flannel suits into cut-offs. A minuscule sensor, stuck discreetly to your windshield, registers each time you approach a Time To Shine drive-thru spray station and preps the high-tech equipment within for the proper procedures, including an underbody blast, high-pressure spray, tri-color foam conditioner, wheel clean, rain guard, rust inhibitor, and poly sealant. A spot-free rinse douses off the last of the biodegradable chemicals, flushing 80% of the liquids through a PurWater Reclaim recycling system; a high-powered air dry prevents cars from vigorously shaking off clingy droplets. Free vacuums line one side of each Time To Shine location so that customers can also evict interior litter.

Sheltowee Trace Outfitters’ founder, Rick Egedi, has navigated Kentucky’s waters since 1981. At his adventure center, he and his staff lead guided trips on area rivers, such as the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River. Canoers, whitewater rafters, and tubers can float through placid, sun-dappled segments or conquer frothing rapids; alternatively, shorter trips ferry adventurers straight to the foot of the Cumberland Falls, where they can feel the waterfall’s spray and see that, despite conspiracy theories, it is not just water descending an escalator.
For landlubbers, the center’s activities range from trips up a climbing wall to geocaching excursions, on which visitors prowl through the surrounding greenery on a tech-savvy scavenger hunt using GPS tracking to turn up hidden caches of trinkets. During multiday outdoor trips, visitors can spend the night in nearby lodgings, such as quaint cabins and campgrounds, rather than sleeping atop nature’s waterbed—the puddle.
The owners of B & D Detail Shop molded their business practices from a two-fold philosophy: that an auto center's meticulous attention to detail should elicit as brilliant a beam from polished autos as their drivers' satisfied smiles. That's why B & D's staff restores cars to a showroom or TV-commercial-ready gleam with washing and detailing in a friendly environment. Techs wash and wax roadsters by hand, ensuring detailed and comprehensive beautification that, when coupled with extras such as removal of splattered bugs or headlight restoration, protects vehicles against future assaults from Mother Nature.
