Faith Escudero didn’t just wake up one day and decide to become a life coach. She spent years studying mental health, behavior analysis, and education, in the process acquiring licensing as a counselor, school psychologist, and special-education teacher. Today these experiences translate into Faith's leading-edge approach to life coaching, which involves building awareness of the scientific principles that individuals use during each moment to create their perspective—whether it's happiness or stress. Her anger- and stress-reduction classes, for instance, make it clear how to live with a calm, clear mind as coworkers take credit for your work or the Nobel Committee spells your name wrong. While a majority of Faith's seminars are held in her office in Haverhill, she also travels to her client’s location, as when she leads “workplace wellness classes.”

Ali Mohammad and Nadeem Mazen never got the memo that it was dangerous to play with lasers; they’re willing to carve intricate graphics into almost anything, including the 215 loaves of bread it took to animate the autumnal music video for OK Go’s “Last Leaf.” Now, from their shop—whose sign warns passersby that “it’s the future in here”—they etch equally creative messages and images into the gadgets and gewgaws of their clientele. Laptops, iPhones, and other electronics take on customization, as well as items stocked by the shop itself, from metal business cards to pint glasses and hardwood planks awaiting to become personalized kindling. The showcase demonstrates their expertise with pictures of previous projects, such as a guitar body carved with an elaborate swan and a kitchen knife inscribed with an ominous message.

Hypnotherapy runs in Rebekah DeMartino's family. She spent her childhood watching her grandfather guide clients to well-being through hypnotherapy—a task to which he devoted 35 years of his life. Today, the certified hypnotherapist honors her grandfather at her hypnotherapy practice, Able Success Hypnosis. Through self-improvement and recreational hypnotherapy, she decimates barriers that keep her clients from wellness. Self-improvement hypnosis can preempt the subconscious precursors to poor behaviors, such as smoking or overeating, or simply ease anxiety. Recreational hypnosis, on the other hand, exists solely for fun, allowing clients to relive memories, unearth the secrets of past lives, or reflect on a deeper level.

Gravity has no control within Sky Zone Everett's confines. Inside, a sea of trampolines sends visitors leaping, spinning, and somersaulting toward springy floors and pits of foam. The bouncy surfaces stretch to the walls, where trampolines set at 45-degree angles let kids and adults repeatedly soar through the air like a superhero trying to wrack up frequent flier miles. Occasionally, Sky Zone transforms into high-paced competitions such as 3-D dodge ball and Sky Zone the Sport, during which players toss balls through continuously rotating goals. The trampoline-lined arena also hosts SkyRobics classes that utilize low-impact calisthenics and strength-building exercises.
