In spite of the name, Community Massage epitomizes personal service. The massage therapists tailor each deep-tissue, reflexology, or hot-stone massage session to suit clients' unique body type or set of instructions tattooed on their back. Similarly, aestheticians customize facials to hydrate dry skin or draw excess oil from pores.
As the waterfall outside the studio's window creates soothing sounds of rushing water, Falls Haven Massage creates tranquility of its own. Therapists foster inner peace and wellness with Swedish, deep-tissue, and cupping massages. All modalities are customized to the client's needs. For those in need of stress release, therapists employ Swedish strokes. To treat chronic aches and pains, they perform the more intense, targeted techniques of deep-tissue massage. Their style of cupping is based off Chinese cupping therapy, but differs in that Falls Haven's therapists move the cups with gliding strokes instead of stationary applications. Benefits of cupping include lymphatic drainage, inflammation relief, and sedation of the nervous system, among many others.
A contemporary dancer, Kristen Stake understands more than most how the body moves. In fact, while she was practicing contact improvisation dance, she learned a variety of bodywork modalities, including Thai yoga massage and shiatsu, and decided that she wanted to become a massage therapist.
At Embody Center, Kristen blends multiple massage styles, including the aforementioned techniques, craniosacral therapy, and reflexology, to reenergize her clients and deepen their relationships with and awareness of their own bodies. Kristen also works to alleviate physical tension, decrease anxiety, and loosen limbs so they can snake under vending-machine doors.
The natural world always appealed to Winifred Tannetta, whether she was exploring the Ontario wilderness as a child on family vacations or visiting sacred sites across Ireland, Spain, and the United States as an adult. This passion for earth-based spirituality inspired Winifred to found her own business, where she creates a supportive environment that promotes introspection and self-discovery. The majority of the center's services emphasize spiritual and energetic health, including reiki sessions that promote balance and harmony with gentle attunements.
Like the Rush Hour movie trilogy, Manee Powers's massage practice combines the best of Eastern and Western techniques. Manee studied and practiced traditional Thai massage at Wat Po Thai Traditional Medical and Massage School in Bangkok and practiced throughout the Phuket area. After practicing in Thailand for five years, Manee enrolled in The Massage School in Easthampton, where she mastered an array of Western kneading techniques, such as deep tissue, Swedish, and trigger-point therapy.
At The Giving Tree of Massage & Reiki, indoor amenities such as mood lighting and soothing music set minds at ease while the private studio’s decor takes its cues from the great outdoors. Cerulean walls and plentiful arboreal knickknacks evoke a relaxing forest scene more effectively than a landscape painting or a grizzly bear rummaging through the reception desk for honey. In this setting, licensed massage therapist and reiki practitioner Janna Thomas draws on traditional and holistic techniques to rid bodies of troublesome aches. Her deep-tissue massages help soothe sore muscles and detoxify the body, whereas reiki sessions strive to promote deep relaxation and pain relief with a Japanese style of energy healing.
