Armed with an arsenal of premium products from Goldwell, Aquage, and Pharmagel, the staff of Bella Scappare Salon tends to tresses, nails, and skin in a heartwarmingly quirky salon. Vaulted, arched ceilings and decorative mirrors of every shape and size make the space feel like a blend between an iron-age train station and a Victorian home. At each wooden, antique-style station, skilled hands snip trendy haircuts, douse locks in all-over color or highlights, and fill out environmental compliance reports for the construction of elegant up-dos. Manicures, pedicures, and OPI Axxium gel nail services adorn phalanges with the chic style that garnered the salon a nod from Hometown Life for Best Nail Salon in 2011. Facials, meanwhile, leave mugs radiant with pharmaceutically designed anti-aging, acne-controlling, and eye-refreshing formulas. Massages strip away stress with Swedish and deep-tissue modalities, and full-body waxing services evict unwanted hair in a private room lined with ruffled fabric to muffle unibrows’ last-minute pleas for clemency.
Under the tutelage of owner Meredith Clayton, who has been a hairstylist for more than 20 years, Shine Salon has pampered clients with an array of services such as hair coloring, facials, and body waxing since 2006. A crew of stylists, aestheticians, nail technicians, and makeup artists tend to clients’ beauty needs by banishing frizz from unruly strands, painting polish on natural nails, and adhering eyelash extensions.
Indigo Salon & Serenity Spa takes its name from "Mood Indigo". Visitors might connect the music's smooth, classy tones to the gold walls and luminous sconces that line the salon, but jazz inspires more than the decor and the sassy hand motions that accompany a bold reveal. To the stylists, it represents creative versatility, the same concepts that enable them to deliver simple trims alongside bold color treatments. Just as bands can vacillate between instrumental and vocal finesse, the staff shifts gears from hair to makeup and spa services, all the while preserving a commitment to continual education and natural products.
At the styling stations, hair color from TIGI and Kemon transforms ’dos without harsh chemicals such as ammonia and PPD. Both the salon and the spa rely on botanically based formulas: Neuma vegan haircare products imbue strands with shine, and Decleor Paris skincare products contribute to custom European facials for the face or back.
Onsite massage therapists supplement aesthetic services with a wide range of modalities, including classic Swedish massage, hot-stone work, and reflexology combined with a soothing foot soak. During many sessions, such as reiki and craniosacral therapy, they employ noninvasive techniques, permitting clients to remain completely clothed instead of cutting holes in the clients’ shirts to access their shoulders.
We are a full service salon. From finely crafted haircuts to hair extensions, great conversation to relaxation you will find it with each of our five stylists. Being in the business for nearly thirty years and a yearn for knowledge we have always been on the cutting edge of the latest styles.
Sandy Nguyen and Boo Carter, the stylists behind Luxurious Hair Studio, specialize in creative haircuts and color using Matrix SoColor products. Both women have a true passion for hair—Sandy’s professional philosophy is to treat her clients’ hair as well as if it were her own—and lots of experience. Boo alone has spent more than 15 years in the beauty industry.
When the Douglas J Aveda Institute opened in Knoxville in 2011, it joined a family of institutes and salons that Douglas Weaver started in the 1960s. Here, Aveda students pursue certification in cosmetology and esthiology while practicing their craft on real clients under the supervision of licensed educators. And because students perform the services, the rates are lower than at traditional salons. The Knoxville treatment menu includes hair design—cuts, color, retexturizing—as well as Aveda’s Elemental Nature facials, pedicures, and manicures.
The Institute is inside the historic S&W Grand building, a handsome art-deco landmark that, like a compassionate fairy-tale prince, is equally handsome on the inside. The spa rooms have a rustic balance of exposed brick and wood paneling, and the salon’s geometric light fixtures gleam upon checkerboard tile floors and industrial shelving lined with Aveda’s signature products.
