When sisters Jessica Barton and Eslie Greene opened Salon Sovain, they aimed to keep the space true to its historic Chelsea home. Antique furniture, including rustic armoires at styling stations and glitzy chandeliers hanging overhead, unfurl across the space’s dark-wooden floors while windows give a view of a street lined with historic brick buildings. Of course, the sisters had to add a few modern touches. They drenched some of the walls in vibrant pink—which complements the other walls’ exposed brick—and created a white, textured reception desk with flowers.
Within the classically styled salon, the duo showcases their talent, excelling at creating fashion-forward looks with chic cuts and color treatments with the aid of Redken, Wella, and Joico products. They arrange strands into elegant updos or unconventional Valentine’s Day gifts and repair years of damage with hydrating conditioning treatments. Jessica doubles as a nail expert too, tempting clients with standard or Shellac manicures topped off with OPI or CND colors.
