Food slingers at Heavenly Chicken & Waffles whip up a full menu of hearty breakfasts, sandwiches, and chicken-and-waffles plates inspired by the cuisine of classic Harlem eatery Wells Kitchen. Like justice, breakfast is served all day and has a penchant for belgian waffles, served either plain ($5), stuffed with bacon ($5.75), or strewn with cinnamon apples, chocolate chips, bananas and pecans, strawberries, or blueberries (an additional $1.50 each). The Favorite ($13.50)—four chicken wings or one 7-ounce chicken breast served atop a plain belgian waffle with a side of red-skin garlic potatoes—fills stomachs, suppressing butterflies in the bellies of spelling-bee contestants.
The City of Southfield Parks & Recreation department helps the community’s citizens stay active year-round by maintaining a network of both indoor and outdoor facilities. At the Beech Woods Recreation Center, more than 17,000 square feet of gymnasium space host youths playing pick-up basketball, aerobics classes working off extra inches, and tennis players honing their fly-swatting skills. Outside, the Southfield Sports Arena boasts a 120-foot waterslide, and flower gardens perfume weddings and concerts held at Burgh Historical Park's gazebo.
Set against silky backdrops and swathed in out-of-character props, party guests pose for pictures inside one of the photo booths by Marvelous Image Booth. As they return their feather boas and monocles to the attendant, photo strips emerge from the printer, each emblazoned with a customized event logo or message. The pictures and strips are unlimited during the rental period, and the images from each event are transferred to a CD for safekeeping or use as a sentimental pocket mirror. Additional amenities include photo scrapbooks for guests to decorate, and VIP treatments with velvet ropes and red carpet.

When Branden Donley was in college, he set out with his push mower to earn some cash tidying lawns around the neighborhood. His friend Sam Johnson began pitching in, and though the two were just 18 and 19 years old, their success soon made them realize they could turn their small operation into a full-time business.
That was more than 20 years ago. Branden still runs the business, but today, he shares his love of creating beautiful yards with a staff of more than 40 people. The crew is dedicated to manicuring lawns with services that range from mowing grass and pulling weeds to complete landscaping overhauls. Rather than find a compatible bear to hibernate with during winter months, the crew turns its focus from greenery to snow removal, using its fleet of snowplow trucks to clear commercial parking lots, roads, and paths.
