CCW Advance’s state- and NRA-certified instructor, Christopher Laird, keeps his courses to 10 students, ensuring they receive personal attention and understand gun operation and safety fundamentals before they apply for a Michigan concealed pistol license. In each of his classes, Christopher focuses on the differences between personal protection at home versus the outdoors and how the gun owner's responsibilities change in different scenarios. He picks convenient spots around Southfield for each part of his classes, such as a local library for classroom training, a local range for live-fire training, and locally prepared soufflés for targets.
An active-duty officer with the Detroit Police Department, Jeff Banks helps students of all levels of marksmanship obtain a state Concealed Pistol License, also known as a CPL or CCW permit. With that aim, he teaches the Michigan CCW/CPL Training Class that, in addition to imparting the basics of operating a handgun, covers methods of non-violent conflict resolution.
