Camp Gladiator founder Ally Davidson?s childhood obsession with the outdoors and sports led her to pursue a degree in exercise physiology. After her 2008 win on the TV show American Gladiators, Ally decided to share her love of fitness with the world at large. Camp Gladiator reflects Ally's passion for fitness in its mission, which espouses their desire "to positively impact the physical fitness and ultimately the lives of as many people as possible." During Camp Gladiator Total Transformation, participants lose weight and gain energy in a friendly, positive environment. If you ask a professional cheerleader how she got her toned physique, agile limbs, and powerful muscles, she might point you to Jay and Lin Johnson. The husband-and-wife duo are the brains behind Jay Johnson's Boot Camp Fitness?an exercise program designed to slim waistlines and pump up muscles of students of all abilities, from fitness newbies to professionals and prestigious clients such as the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. They have also introduced the program to national audiences through numerous television appearances, including Dr. Phil's Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge.

Drawing from their extensive training in the US Army and years of fitness experience, the pair and a staff of elite trainers?including professional football players and mixed martial artists?lead boot-camp programs in the Dallas area. Within parks, fields, and parking lots, they conduct high-intensity workouts, keeping patrons engaged with constantly varied regimens, along with games, obstacle courses, and scavenger hunts. They focus on functional training throughout the sessions, challenging students to heave barbells, flip tractor tires, and lug fire hoses.

The trainers also offer a specialized cheerleading boot camp ideal for high-school teams training for upcoming seasons or assistant grocery managers seeking ways to motivate their teams of disillusioned bag boys.

Koko FitClub’s automated personal-training system rockets both men and women toward fitness goals with 30-minute custom workouts that incorporate cardio and strength training. An initial consultation determines fitness level and baseline measurements, which Koko’s machines use to design a bespoke workout plan that precisely measures the weight, pace, and rest time appropriate for each exerciser. The Koko machines guide exercisers through each workout and adapt as the user’s fitness needs change and constantly challenge the body.

Designed by professional trainers, workouts maximize the body’s lean-muscle mass, which can boost metabolism and help fight off disease by challenging viruses to kickboxing matches. Exercisers can track their shrinking waistlines and swelling muscles online by analyzing workout scores and comparing individual fitness levels to the Koko FitClub community.

To help fuel bodies, the KoKo Fuel custom nutrition plan provides clients with the exact quantity of macronutrients needed to build lean muscle and burn fat. The online nutrition plan is based on increasing protein intake and controlling carbs, which is clinically proved to help aid with weight loss.

For Eliana Ceballos, Zumba is more than just a fun dance-fitness program set to high-energy Latin beats; it?s a form of therapy. After discovering the upbeat exercise form while in the midst of extreme personal hardships, she found it to be a cathartic stress reliever and a way to temporarily escape the harsh realities of life. The transcendence she experienced inspired her to become a Zumba instructor so that she could pass on the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of Zumba to others. Her sister, Valeria, lost 65 pounds through Zumba and hopes to inspire others to gain the confidence through exercise and weight loss that she did. The sisters have helmed their other studio, Zumba People, for two years. Eliana recently brought the joy of Zumba to the Colleyville area with Fit Fiesta Studio, where she leads classes for all ages?including children and baby boomers?in hopes of making exercise fun while imparting to her students the same peace of mind she has felt during tumultuous periods.

Sisters Eliana and Valeria both discovered Zumba during challenging times in their lives⎯Valeria while fighting obesity and Eliana while helping her late husband through cancer treatments. These past experiences inform the sisters’ approaches to the dance classes they lead. Valeria creates a comfortable and nonjudgmental environment for students of all fitness levels, and Eliana wants to offer her students the same freedom and escape she found during one-hour Zumba workouts. Both ladies are certified instructors and teach several subspecies of Zumba dance, including Zumbatomic for children and Zumba Gold for seniors, beginners, and prenatal students. Zumba People also tries to foster a sense of community among its students, hosting costumed dance parties for Halloween and orchestrating the occasional flash mob. Classes are held six days a week, and schedules for the Hurst and Southlake locations vary.

At Sunstone Yoga, students radiate calm and self-awareness as they practice ancient poses designed to stretch, strengthen, and purify the body. Instructors complete 500 hours of training in yogic techniques, teaching, and physiology before leading classes, so they can hand out researched, tested tips on safety and alignment. Most classes come in 30-, 60-, and 90-minute varieties and focus on energy or restorative relaxation. A two-class introductory series welcomes beginners with basic standing poses, and the popular fire series explores up to 34 poses in a 99-degree room that loosens muscles to facilitate deeper stretches as it ousts toxins. Filled with soothing music and 90-degree temperatures, the water series cultivates more serenity than getting a massage from a singing whale.
