In the event of an apocalypse, nail tech Michaela Bay would never be short on nail polish. The gold walls of her Garden Way salon are lined with elaborate displays of color options—shades of green, red, purple, and yellow. She employs these bright polishes, sterilized files, and a razor-sharp attention to detail to renovate nails during mani-pedis. Guests may also request durable Shellac polish, which offers up to two weeks of chip-free color.

A real passion for her job is what makes Barbara Silvia look forward to coming into work every day, she explains on her website. She has worked as a nail technician for three years performing mani-pedis. Most recently, she relocated to a booth inside Sunflower Salon, where she specializes in acrylic nails and elaborate nail art. Barbara works hard to keep abreast of current trends, from using long-lasting gel polish to decorating digits with portraits of popular CEOs.

The stylists at More Pzazz boast an eclectic array of specialties?Noella Fisher, for example, focuses on dimensional color, whereas Bailey Barret expertly braids hair into interlocks, half backs, and corn rows. Those are just two of the many pros on the salon's team, and they all wield products from brands such as Redken and Pureology as they create custom hairdos. They share the space with aestheticians, who rejuvenate complexions with anti-aging facials, and manicurists, who brighten nails with a rainbow of colors.

Q&A with Julie Wobbe, Aesthetician/Skincare Provider and Owner

What are some of your most popular services? What do you think clients love them so much?

The Beauty Room's most popular services are my micro-peel facials, Brazilians, and spray tans. My clients love these services because they are all results-based services using high-quality products. Client's come in, relax, and get to feel instantly more beautiful and spoiled.

A micro peel is a facial that includes microdermabrasion plus a chemical peel, so you get ultimate exfoliation both mechanically and chemically for amazing results. Diamond-tip microdermabrasion mechanically exfoliates your skin, preparing it for a custom chemical peel that includes a cocktail of perfecting ingredients for you specific skin's needs. Your skin will immediately glow, but over the course of a week continue to shine. Four to six treatments are recommended for best results.

Brazilians are performed with advanced waxing techniques and high-quality gentle products. If you are looking for a safe and gentle waxing experience, I'm the right aesthetician for you.

My spray tan technique and solution has been perfected to ensure a natural, even brown tan every time. The Beauty Room spray tan uses the best sunless tanning products in the industry to ensure that your tan looks natural and lasts as long as possible. My products are safe, organic, paraben-free, non-sticky and odorless. Unlike Mystic Tans, I combine natural ingredients and the latest technology to provide you with a streak-free, natural-looking tan that will never leave you looking orange.

Do you use any products or brands you're particularly proud of? What makes them uniquely effective?

RAYA is a European quality skincare line that is affordable yet yields good results. [We also use] PCA (Physicians Care Alliance) Skin. They set the bar high when it comes to innovative skin care, being acknowledged in prominent medical textbooks as the originator of advanced blended chemical peel formulations. I want to build a successful practice and achieve the most effective results using PCA Skin and RAYA daily-care products and professional treatments.

What's the most common beauty mistake you see people make? What would you recommend they do instead?

The two most common beauty mistakes I see potential clients making are not using high-quality, results-based products at home and not seeing a properly educated aesthetician. Just like you brush and floss your teeth twice a day between dental visits, you need to have quality home care for your skin twice a day. Sun protection and gentle exfoliation are the two most important things you can do for your skin on a daily basis. I'm also a firm believer in masking twice a week and at-home facial massages once a week with nourishing oils. Along with monthly aesthetic, work clients need to be taking care of their skin at home. I encourage everyone to come in and get educated about their skin. I'm full of knowledge and willing to share it with you.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

Aesthetics is what I?m truly passionate about, and it shows with each and every client I serve. I take pride in all the services I perform and I love to spoil and make every client feel special. I?m genuinely interested in product knowledge and chemistry, which is proven with my bachelor of science in biology and continuing education. I love to serve others and I?m thrilled to perform result-based services. Through research, trial and error, years of experimenting, and working closely with a chemical engineer, I have found the highest quality products and services to offer. I value the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with you.

The natural twinkle of chandelier lighting adds a touch of elegance to every service administered inside Face It! Clients unwind in the wooden hued space, browsing a full menu of nail, skin, and body care treatments ranging from spray tanning to mani-pedis to makeup applications. To leave clients' complexions and consciences feeling clean, the estheticians rely upon a lineup of socially conscious products characterized by eco-friendly processing methods and the manufacturers' refusals to test on animals or Abe Lincoln busts. m]]
