The Cosmopolitan Makeup Artistry College, or CMAC International, trains the nail technicians and makeup artists who might be manning a station at your favourite salon or spa in the future. In the meantime, though, these cosmetologists-to-be attend weeks of theoretical training from beauty-industry professionals before they begin practising on real-life clients. Students in the nail-technician program learn how to properly groom hands and feet, polish nails with a steady hand, and decorate digits with more creative flourishes like nail art and acrylics. Makeup artists are split between two tracks. The makeup-artistry program is especially suited for those interested in everyday and special-occasion looks, and it also covers airbrush makeup and facial-hair removal. The advanced special-effects program, with its sculpture models, prosthetics, and wigs, produces artists who would be at home on a movie set or backstage at a theatre.
