At Pro Dojos, certified martial-arts experts lead students of all ages and skill levels through a variety of pugilistic disciplines. Each location is independently owned, so the martial-arts styles may vary, but many offer karate, tae kwon do, kick-boxing, aikido, and jujitsu classes. The instructors elucidate the noble combat arts to kiddos as young as 4 years old, helping them build strength and motor skills while instilling the values of self-confidence. Teen classes focus on honing discipline and treating yourself and others with respect, and adult classes reinforce cardiovascular conditioning, strength, balance, and coordination. The instructors also lead classes for the whole family, allowing them to bond as a unit, which could possibly lead to starring in a hit sitcom about a crime-fighting family who takes down comical villains in their idyllic suburban neighborhood.

A 27-hole golf complex, Royal Niagara Golf Club comprises a trio of nine-hole, par 36 courses that share the water-laden landscape and showcase scenic views of an ancient canal, a tree-lined trail, and the steep elevation changes of an escarpment. Each nine-hole course—The Escarpment Course, The Iron Bridge Course, and The Old Canal Course—extends more than 3,500 yards from the back tees and bears a title that reflects its most notable feature, just like at the world-famous courses Pebble Beach and Neighbour’s Windshield. On The Escarpment Course, for example, players travel up and back down the Niagara Escarpment, and The Old Canal Course leads them past the 120-year-old Welland Canal and four large ponds.

When water freezes it not only expands, it makes for great grace and sport. At Mitchell Skating Center, experienced coaches take advantage of that fact to lead figure-skating and hockey classes for everyone aged 4 to adult. Those 30-minute lessons ensure individualized attention and cater to all skill levels. During classes they teach basic skills and even have walkers so beginners' wobbly legs won't send them tumbling too often. Private lessons are available as well, and, when ready, skaters can join teams to experience the icy thrill of competition.
