During Hunter Cattle's Farm Heritage Day Festival, families are invited to spend a fun-filled day on the farm, learning about farm life and participating in family-friendly activities. Local heritage farmers hold demonstrations on a variety of topics, including mill grinding, blacksmithing, honey hives, goat milking, pottery spinning, horse farrier, soap-making, and pasta-making. Local chefs and restaurants who use Hunter Cattle products, including Leoci's Trattoria, Neo HHI, and 22 Square, will be on hand to offer snacks and meals. The festival also boasts live music, kids' activities, fishing, and wagon rides.
It's hard to say what's more fun to see, the 100-plus-pound beast of a pumpkin at Madrac Farms or the sights on a scenic 10-minute hayride through the area woods. And those are just two of the fun fall activities at the farm.
Families can also explore the twists and turns of the five-acre corn maze, don a potato sack and glide down a slide, and head to the pumpkin patch to pick out their own Orange Bulldog pumpkin, a variety developed at the University of Georgia to flourish in heat and humidity. In the barnyard, farm animals?such as goats, chickens, and one potbelly pig named Hazel?meet and greet guests, who feed them a handful of treats. In addition growing their own variety of pumpkins, the farm imports ones from all over the U.S.
Those who stop by the farm on Snow Day see it transformed into a winter wonderland with real snow that's perfect for making snow angels or building a people-shaped snowman to honor the greatest president in U.S. history, William Henry Harrison.
The scent of hot, sugary confections lets passersby know they’re approaching The Donut Shop of Rincon. The shop’s chefs rise early to start baking fresh treats each day, such as raspberry-filled cake donuts, glazed yeast donuts, and cinnamon-crusted twists. They also concoct breakfast sandwiches from sausage, bacon, ham, and cheese, and salads filled with chicken. As they create, they’re surrounded by wall murals depicting donuts dripping with frosting, steaming lattes beneath mountains of whipped cream, and piles of donut holes slowly becoming self-aware.
