Iosif and Ella Meluta?s son, Alex, was diagnosed with asthma when he was 6 years old. To combat the disease, the Melutas sought out the therapeutic effects of salty air, taking him on seaside vacations, visiting salt rooms throughout the United States and Canada, and traveling to Eastern Europe?s salt mines. Eventually, Iosif and Ella created a salt-infused microclimate right in the Detroit area, the Salinair Salt Room, which Alex could incorporate into his everyday life. Nowadays, thanks to regular salt-room sessions, Alex is pursuing his dream of playing pro tennis.
The salt room?s healing properties are not just available to Alex. Clients of all ages who are struggling with conditions such as asthma, common colds, and stress can lounge in its zero-gravity chairs as they nap or surf the web during halotherapy. The therapy simply entails breathing the room?s air, which is suffused with salt microparticles and negative ions that soothe respiratory systems. As sessions unfold, adults can enjoy the relaxing effects of dimmed colored lights and music, and kids can play with Alex and his stash of toys.
Urvashi MediSpa's Dr. Deepthi Lingam and Dr. Jasmin Ghuznavi assuage cosmetic concerns by offering traditional spa services alongside contemporary med-spa treatments. To successfully smooth and refine skin, the center's technicians arm themselves with such recently declassified technology as a crystal-free microdermabrasion system. Urvashi MediSpa also boasts an arsenal of beautifying products, including fruit- and enzyme-infused facial balms and an antibacterial sugar-waxing formula, which is harvested from rogue beehives and used to uproot unsightly follicles with less discomfort than traditional waxes or resins.
Gigi Badila Cristache, Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM), R.Ac., Di. Hom. is no stranger to the world of alternative medicine. The owner of Naphsha Healing Arts holds a master's degree in the classical form of Five Element acupuncture and draws on her knowledge of holistic healing to alleviate ailments, such as emotional or digestive issues, with acupuncture, Chinese and Western herbs, and homeopathy treatments. To further promote optimal well-being, Gigi also incorporates bioenergetic therapy into treatment plans, which she devises for clients after they participate in a complimentary consultation.
Patients who visit Dr. William Massey at Elise Laser & Medical Spa know one thing: they won't be in for a long recovery period after undergoing one of his cosmetic procedures. That's because the doctor sticks to treatments that require minimal—if any—downtime, from photofacials and Botox to chemical peels and Aluma skin renewal. A particular attraction is fractional-laser skin resurfacing, a treatment that makes the skin seem firmer and decreases wrinkles after just 10–20 minutes.

When she was still learning the nuances of her craft in massage school, Rhonda Lakip-Ochoa wasted no time sharing her newfound powers with those who needed them most. After classes ended, she?d practice what she?d learned that day on her mother, who had cancer, and the seniors under her charge during a day job as a caregiver. Now, as the principle practitioner at A Healing Touch Massage Therapy/Spa LLC, Rhonda draws upon these formative experiences to soothe clients from all walks of life. During in-office sessions, she unknots kinked muscles with bodywork drawn from massage traditions including deep tissue and hot stone. Rhonda and her team of certified massage therapists also schedule in-home appointments, arriving at area doorsteps bearing massage tables, lotions, and calming music.
Although she?s now a full-fledged massage therapist, Rhonda never forgot her commitment to bringing peace to the infirm. Today, she still caters to clients with Alzheimer's and dementia, easing their ills with strokes that are lighter, slower than usual. She also massages individuals undergoing cancer treatments, MS, and other illnesses at her non-profit facility, A Healing Garden.
