From behind a frozen granite slab, the staff of Cold Stone Creamery uses twin spatulas to blend custom servings of ice cream and creative mix-ins to fit customers’ exact specifications. Founded by Donald and Susan Sutherland in 1988, Cold Stone began under the hot Arizona sun, eventually spreading its frosty fingers to encompass more than 1,400 locations worldwide. Despite the size of the company, each location’s staff keeps up the handcrafted quality, making ice cream onsite every day and using those signature spatulas to create delicious pointillist art against the freezer wall.
After visitors to Habibi’s Gyros and Kabob House pass under the striped awning, they'll likely be greeted by the rich aromas of Mediterranean spices. Specializing in the dishes of Turkey, Greece, and North Africa, the cooks prepare steaming gyros as well as spicy Moroccan chicken and masala curries. A wall of booths draped with curtains and ornate decor lend the space a seductive feel. On some nights, belly dancers sashay across the tiled floor.
Hitting the gym every day can get boring. Luckily, at Adventure 212 Fitness, the staffers have made it their mission to always make visits engaging, exciting, and yes—even fun. The multifaceted space is more than a gym; it also houses a spa and bistro that pamper and nourish exercisers after intense workouts. At the fitness center, meet with a personal trainer to discuss goals, drop in on a group class, or take a wellness seminar to get the full scoop on total-body health.
