Though Terri Watson specializes in dog grooming, her expertise extends to daycare, overnight boarding, and industry-grade belly rubs. She allows visiting pups to do as they please, whether it’s jumping on couches, fetching toys, or napping in a comfy bed. In addition to providing a safe, clean place for dogs to hang out while they wait for their masters to return, Terri strives to help her canine boarders burn off excess energy and socialize with other dogs.

Spirit of Massage kneads horses and their riders in relaxing massage therapy for either species. Equissage sessions use hands-on techniques similar to human massage to relieve the aches of athletic quadrupeds, delivered by a licensed equine-sports-massage therapist. Greedy humans can use their advanced thumbs and prehensile tails to distract therapists with their own muscular tension, choosing from options that include a traditional Swedish massage to awaken the lymphatic systems. An Earth Bones hot-stone massage relaxes the tension acquired from trying to one-up leaping horses, and the Reiki massage employs the palm to unlock tight muscles, freeing up therapist fingers to craft complex cat's cradles.

Advanced surgical suites, an underwater treadmill for physical therapy, and doctors highly knowledgeable in the field of orthopedic care. Though this may seem like a list of features found at a major city hospital, it actually belongs to Packerland Veterinary Center. Offering state-of-the-art pet services that range from routine vaccines to advanced cancer care, owner Chanda Holschbach and her team of dedicated veterinarians draw from an arsenal of advanced medical equipment that includes digital x-rays, , dental gear, and surgical tools used for hip replacements. With access to an in-house laboratory, the forward-thinking center also provides pet-patients with cutting-edge treatments, such as stem cell therapy and therapeutic laser treatments.

Grooming specialists, meanwhile, keep four-legged pals looking and feeling fresh at the center's on-site grooming studio, which they outfit with individual kennels and a fully-equipped bathing area.

After vacationing in France in the early 1970s, retired physicist Carl Sontheimer was inspired to go back to work. He?d seen a new gadget?a mechanized food processor for restaurants?and wanted to retool it for passionate home cooks like himself. His machine was efficient and versatile: mixing eggs into puff pastry took 15 minutes for a human, 10 minutes for a trained chimpanzee, but just 15 seconds in the food processor. Immediately, revered chefs including Julia Child, Jacques P?pin, and James Beard applauded the invention, and Beard even wrote an entire cookbook dedicated to the machine. Decades later, Cuisinart?s line of innovative products ranges from waffle makers and rice cookers to eco-friendly nonstick pans.

Since 1987, Bellaire Farms owners Kris and Kara Martalock have been teaching horseback riding to pupils of all skill levels. During private lessons, group lessons, and summer horse camps, gentle steeds and experienced instructors help students learn skills such as balance and coordination. Students can gallop outdoors on carpets of grass or, during inclement weather, head to the facility?s heated indoor arena. The conscientious instructors take time to match pupils with an appropriate hoofed partner, but riders are also welcome to take lessons on their own horses.
