The season finale of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra comes to a dramatic Deutschlandic conclusion, with a showcase of classical German music spanning three centuries. Join conductor, ivory tickler, and SPCO artistic partner Christian Zacharias, who has conducted both the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonic orchestras, as he begins the evening with an elegant performance of Piano Concerto in D Minor by C. P. E. Bach. Zacharias will then resume vertical posture to conduct Schumann's Spring Symphony, a piece composed from Schumann's fast-flowing heart and mind during his honeymoon period with pianist wife, Clara Wieck. Enjoy this evening of joyous classical music, and attend the SPCO before the offseason starts.

The legendary century-old, 1,000-seat Fitzgerald Theater is home to live recordings of A Prairie Home Companion, one of public radio’s longest-running programs that has established a considerable cult following. Fans of the show will be delighted to hear Garrison Keiller’s distinctive meandering Midwestern voice as he goes through his weekly monologue, storytelling, and piano-backed serenade segments. It’s not a one man show, though: there is a backing band and other musicians and humorists that stop by for additional entertainment. Tickets to each taping range from $30 - $50, the price depending on how close you want to be to the action.

A modern mixed-media collaboration, Bridgman/Packer Dance is the brainchild of Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer, two collaborating choreographers, performers, and Guggenheim Fellows who have spent more than 30 years turning the dance duet on its head with trippy video effects. On this particular evening, the duo will showcase two of their latest works: Double Expose, a raucously sensual journey into the psyche's surreal mindscapes, and Under the Skin, an aesthetic adventure that viscerally challenges ideas of identity as images of the dancers multiply to fill the stage. To deepen the multi-sensory immediacy of each work, the dancers will be integrated with video projections, including animation, live camerawork, and prerecorded footage.
