Within its stone walls, five dedicated rooms bustle with the whir of cardio and weight-training equipment, and swimmers careen down the 12 lanes of the 50-meter pool during lessons, lap swims, and open pool time. The squeaks of pivoting sneakers peal off the racquetball court's walls, and twosomes, foursomes, and Billie Jean King's army of clones descend on the four tennis courts, which guests rent by the hour. He practices Eastern and Western techniques as a state-licensed massage therapist, he's certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, and he also teaches at Northwestern College's School of Massage Therapy.
Beyond the Swedish, deep-tissue, and prenatal massages he performs at Sacred Touch (located inside Hidden Spa), Daniel specializes in methods geared toward athletes. As a mixed martial artist and as a former personal trainer, he understands the aches and pains that can stem from sports or drinking Gatorade too fast. He uses Kinesio tape in his treatments to reduce pressure on pain receptors and the lymphatic-drainage system, and he incorporates proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation to increase flexibility. Daniel also believes in using holistic practices to improve well-being, including a therapy called The Spiritus, a two-hour session that incorporates chakra balancing, aromatherapy, tibetan singing bowls, and crystals.
