Walking through the minimal, dimly lit interiors of Invidia Salon and Spa may feel like walking through a dream. Ultramodern floral wall sconces and chandeliers fashioned from branches illuminate hardwood-floored hallways that split off into dark rooms filled with plush couches. In the central hall, studio lights cast dramatic beams onto swiveling salon chairs positioned in front of floor-to-ceiling mirrors, each aligned in two rows flanking a central stone fireplace.

Here in the multimillion dollar 10,000-square-foot facility, stylists sculpt new ’dos and colorists add hues to locks. Aestheticians smooth skin with customizable facials rich in vitamins and natural extracts, and laser technicians boost collagen with LED light therapy and laser facials.

In private spa rooms, equipped with fireplaces and temperature-controlled beds, therapists imbue a sense of calm with massages and Reiki. In the Vichy shower, clients treated with mud or fruit body wraps recline on a cushioned bed while multiple showerheads work to clean their skin.

After experiencing a very difficult time in her life, mother and entrepreneur Lauri Meizler was in search of a healthy start. She went down many paths to recover, but the results were less than optimal: instead of feeling energized, she found herself lethargic and underweight. It wasn?t until discovering cleansing and Ayurveda, one of the world's oldest medical systems, that life began to change. Soon thereafter, she adapted the teachings of the combination, and has since felt energetic, balanced, and in control of her life once again.

Lauri received certifications as a health coach in raw foods and Ayurveda and pairs the ancient Indian tradition?s holistic-wellness practices with modern nutrition training to help others optimize their health and well-being through eating a predominantly plant-rich diet. Her company, Joos, funnels these nutritious ingredients into bottles to help on-the-go people to build healthy, sustainable eating habits.

In flavors such as green lemonade, citrus refresh, and antioxidant blast, these wholesome potables teem with ingredients such as fresh-pressed, unpasteurized apples, ginger, and bok choy. Each bottle contains 10?14 types of garden-grown goodness, which amount to two times the daily requirement of fruits, veggies, and scarecrow smiles. The juices can fortify meals with vitamins and minerals or serve as the meals themselves during cleanses, which last 5?21 days. Cleanse participants can also drink in the support of a certified health coach/cleanse expert.

As a ballroom-dance teacher, Monica had already mastered the dance floor when she found out she was pregnant. Though the news meant she had to give up some of her larger responsibilities, she kept teaching up until a week before she gave birth and came back just eight weeks after, driven by her love of dance.

But her months of working during pregnancy had taught her something: dancing was social and active, which was “keeping her sane.” Not only did it improve her mood, the stimulation of dancing helped keep her child, Oscar, calm both in the womb and in his carrier. Spurred by her new experiences, Monica founded Mama Ballroom to share the joy of dancing with other expecting and brand-new moms. Monica’s one-hour classes impart basic steps and patterns in a variety of ballroom styles, allowing moms of any experience level to move to the music and ensure their baby’s popularity at kindergarten cocktail hours. Mama Ballroom incorporates elements of classical, Latin, and tango to teach students to sway to the sultry sounds of Sinatra, salsa, and merengue.

That's because the staff, led by owner Daniel Kenn, is on hand to educate customers about all things coffee, from the properties in different beans to the role that acidity plays in the finished product. Customers also have a chance to see part of the coffee-making process in action thanks to the roaster, a computer-controlled machine imported from France that warms up beans to the ideal temperature, readying them for coffee making or coffee-bean swimsuit season.

At Oishii Too Sushi Bar, chef Kung San fuses his knowledge of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, south Asian, and French techniques with fresh, local ingredients to create dishes that are as tasty as they are beautiful. The well-traveled chef handpicks produce from local farmer's markets and fish that's fresh out of Boston Harbor, crafting sushi with yellowtail, salmon, and soft-shell crab. But he also garners inspiration from his own customers, using their ideas to design an innovative menu page devoted to patron-generated rolls such as scallop sushi topped with tobiko, Japanese mayo, and lemon.

The upscale, artistic maki is complemented by an array of sake and wine and an elegant ambience. Soft lighting at the green, lit-from-beneath sushi bar illuminates a few potted flowers, who crane their necks to jealously admire the natural beauty of the chef's creations.
