If you ask a child to draw the meaning of Christmas, there’s a good chance it would look something like Rocket Fizz. A step into Rocket Fizz is a step back in time—into a wonderland of old-fashioned candies and sodas that appear to be straight out of a kid’s imagination or a sugar factory’s family tree. The progeny of cofounders Rob Powells and Ryan Morgan, the shops—which have been mentioned on The Price is Right and endorsed by celebrities such as Snooki from Jersey Shore—burst with thousands of soda pops and candies.
Rob and Ryan created their own brand of pure-cane-sugar Rocket Fizz sodas, which tickle tongues in flavors such as banana nut, cherry cola, and apple jalapeño. Lester’s Fixins and Melba’s Fixins sodas—named for Ryan’s grandparents—offer sweet tastes of apple-pie soda or key-lime soda and adventurous flavors such as bacon soda and sweet-corn soda. Candy bars include classics such as Rocky Road, Bit-O-Honey, and Sky Bars, and bite-size candies include favorites such as Nerds, Milk Duds, and peanut-butter cookie-dough bites. Each shop also stocks nostalgic items, such as movie and music posters, gag gifts, and popular Jones sodas.
My Healthy Meal strives to create nourishing, all-natural meals that don't skimp on flavor. Chefs focus on creating low-fat, low-carb meals such as furikake-crusted salmon, tandoori chicken breast, and turkey tacos. Meals are prepared fresh every day and packaged for guests to pick up at their convenience, then either eat right away or store in their freezer-box cheeks. Before ordering meals, guests can confer with an on-staff nutritionist who helps them establish goals and create menus that cater to their needs.
Smoke rises up from Bee Gee Kitchen's handmade charcoal-fueled grill as it sizzles with the bamboo-skewered meats, seafood, and vegetables of Japanese yakitori-inspired dishes. Chefs adorn the skewers in their own signature sweet and spicy sauces and also specialize in a variety of hibachi, udon-noodle, and teriyaki dishes. Waiters carry steaming dishes out into the cheerful dining room, where bright green walls and sunlight beam down upon rows of tabletops. Outside, cars line up before a drive-thru window, picking up freshly prepared dishes to enjoy at home or while taking repeated laps around their favorite roundabout.
Inside Something's Brewing Cafe, guests cozy up with laptops and books while sipping fresh-brewed coffee and noshing on croissant sandwiches. Baristas make cappuccinos with imported espresso beans as the cooks slice fresh deli meats and create salads with organic greens.
Every day, the crew at Mixers Ice Cream & Boba whips up new batches of homemade ice cream and gelato. These frozen confections wait for their chance to fill out bowls and waffle cones by the single or double scoop or take a star turn in sundaes piled high with toppings and whipped cream. A buffet of mix-ins gets customers in on the act, letting them festoon their desserts or pet snowmen with special touches. The menu also includes a selection of sugar-free offerings for folks giving glucose a wide berth.
In the summer of 2006, the first Cefiore Frozen Yogurt opened in Los Angeles. Before long, word had spread about the new shop’s premium non-fat yogurt, leading to some positive feedback from the press as well as a rapid expansion. Today, Cefiore has shops in the United States, Australia, Turkey, and Canada.
Made with real dairy and live active cultures, Cefiore’s all-natural yogurt does not contain preservatives, artificial colors or flavors, or realistic-looking plastic grapes. Customers can choose from flavors such as raspberry-pomegranate, golden cherry, and green tea and eat their yogurt from a soft-serve cup with fruit and granola, through the straw of a fruit smoothie, or straight from a to-go carton.
