After years of learning the tricks of the trade in his parent’s salon, Frank Paganis set out on his own to create a name for himself in the hair world and open his own salon. Today, his name rests on the front of his Riverside salon, but Frank—a master colorist and one-time hair teacher—isn’t the only member of his family inside. His father Bill Paganis also works in the salon alongside a team of experienced stylists including colorists and an extension specialist.
The Pagani team beautifies locks with L’Oreal and Davines haircare products, as well as such specialty services as keratin treatments and ombre and balayage highlights. Before each service, a stylist provides a complimentary consultation to ensure desired ‘dos can be obtained or are even street legal.
Home is where the heart is, which is why Terri Tabor’s hometown of Riverside was the ideal setting for Salon D'Amore. But staying close to home doesn’t keep this salon owner in the dark when it comes to cutting-edge trends. Rather, she arms her staff with Pureology, La-Brasiliana, and Perfection SmoothOut products to update coifs and tame frizz. When it comes to highlights, they use the paint-by-hand balayage technique to give locks a sun-kissed or idyllic-seascape appearance. The full-service salon and spa also soothes muscles with heated stones, and gives nails long-lasting shine with no-chip mani-pedis.
Located in a renovated 19th-century home, Brennan Massage and Spa swathes visitors in quaint atmosphere. Rocking chairs and potted flowers cover the front porch, and inside, original woodwork and contemporary furniture furnishes sunlit rooms. The staff offers guests complimentary cups of organic tea and free baths in piles of woodchips before pampering them with organic, paraben-free facials, relaxing massages, or all-encompassing spa packages. The spa also features a variety of organic, handmade products purchased from small businesses, including scented lotions, shea butters, and skincare lines.
Every last person at The New Hair Image wants clients to leave the salon looking and feeling better than they did when they arrived. In keeping with that goal, stylists craft eye-catching hairdos, trimming and shaping strands or adding flair with highlights and perms. Waxing technicians remove unwanted stubble from eyebrows and upper lips, and nail artists pamper clients with indulgent manicures and pedicures. Mani-pedis can incorporate quick massages, soothing soaks, and UV-cured gel polishes?which can last for as long as two weeks without chipping, peeling, or evaporating into the stratosphere.
Makeup artist Lauren Doerries uses her pigments, powders, and liners to enhance—not cover up—her clients' natural beauty. It's a talent that she has honed for years at esteemed schools and spas in London, New York, and Chicago. Over time, she has taken that knowledge and applied it to a wide swath of clients, from runway models to brides and special-effects departments. But her ease with a brush and a wand doesn't limit her to only applying makeup—she also takes pride in sharing her skills during makeup tutorials and games of Trivial Pursuit: Makeup Edition.
Technicians at Corazon's Nail Salon are well versed in an array of nail treatments ranging from spa manicures and pedicures to acrylic and gel nail applications. At their stations, technicians coat freshly buffed nails with regular polish from OPI or reach for their longer-lasting formulas for chip-free manicures.
