Out front, a glowing sign hangs above the door, reading 'Gigi's Music Cafe.' Inside, you might find live music, karaoke, and even trivia, depending on the day. But one thing remains constant everyday of the week: Gigi's soulful family recipes. A lifetime lover of music, Gigi Brown brought her two passions together under one roof. Gigi's serves classic American dishes with a twist, including fried chicken with a buttermilk waffle, soul rolls—collard green spring rolls—and country turkey meatloaf with sweet potatoes.

Although each of their dishes is made without gluten, animal products, or refined sugar, Green Wave Cafe proves that raw, vegan food can tempt palates. The eatery earned laurels in 2010 for being the Best Raw Food Restaurant according to the New Times Broward-Palm Beach for flavorful dishes "that actually satisfy." Among such edibles is a vegan chocolate ice cream that tastes close to "the real thing."

All dishes are made onsite daily, and the only cooked dish on the menu is the soup of the day. The hummus sandwich is made from chick peas sprouted in pure ionized water. The lettuce taco boats, which the staff calls one of its most popular dishes, include with housemade guacamole and vegan p?t? rich with Mexican seasoning. Raw-food enthusiasts can also fill their baskets at the Monday farmers' market or earn raw-food certification with cooking classes.

Churromania makes a single treat countless ways. The Venezuelan snack shop, a creation of Ariel Acosta-Rubio, Maria Alejandra Bravo, and Miguel Bravo, might dust its crispy churros with sugar, drizzle them with chocolate, or fill them with cream cheese. Orders of Crispy Mania blend sugar and cinnamon, and each Big Mania comes to tables filled with one of eight toppings, including guava and Nutella. Instead of sucking humidity out of the air with a big straw, visitors can stay hydrated with more than a dozen hot and cold beverages.

It's easy to make good, healthy choices at Herba Bar. That's because the shop specializes in fruit- and veggie-filled smoothies that ooze vitamins. The staff swirls together pineapple juice, mango, and kale to create their Hulk smoothie, or recreate the flavor of apple pie by blending apple juice, strawberries, spinach, nuts, and cinnamon. In addition to their fresh smoothies, they also feature retail health snacks such as Lara bars and eight flavors of meal-replacement shakes. But for those who need to treat themselves after a hard workout or deep nap, they can also make more indulgent shakes in varieties such as cookies 'n' cream or dulce de leche.
