Sylvan Learning Center uses a personalized tutoring approach in order to develop students of all ages. During the initial visit, your child will partake in a Sylvan Skills Assessment, which highlights any trouble spots and serves as a baseline for future progress. Your child will then traverse tailored tutoring sessions, which cover topics such as math, reading, writing, study skills, and algebra. Sylvan issues regular progress reports, providing parents with a comprehensive look into their son or daughter's ongoing sessions. All five Sylvan Learning Centers are open Monday–Saturday, with hours in the morning and afternoon. Call ahead to schedule your appointment.
Sylvan Learning's Las Vegas-area locations understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don't try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design individualized programs based on an initial diagnostic assessment and the student's individual needs.
Tutors work with students from kindergarten through grade 12, with topics ranging from basic reading and writing to complex algebraic formulas. Sylvan's certified instructors are experienced so they understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results.
Founder and member of an elite foreign Special Forces team, this tactical adventures instructor has since lent his expertise to military and SWAT teams as well as drug-enforcement organizations. Today, he dedicates his expertise to Vegas Tactical Adventures, where clients engage in scenarios designed to boost adrenaline and instill defensive strategies. These include everything from an adventure based on the Bourne movies to a women's Femme Fatale course, during which they learn to shoot a crossbow and jump from a moving vehicle. Always with an eye toward safety, the business maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for those they deem unfit to participate.
Although Drivers’ Education classes help students become licensed drivers, they don’t teach them any actual car control skills. That’s where BetterSaferDrivers.com comes in. The staff, helmed by auto racing veteran Robert Prevost, is determined to arm students with the emergency reaction skills they need to help prevent collisions and make them better safer drivers for years to come. During interactive defensive driving clinics, students practice their newly gleaned techniques on sprawling parking lots, learning how to brake fast, deal with skidding, and avoid accidents.
The aestheticians, hair stylists, and nail technicians at G Skin & Beauty Institute never work alone. As students at the beauty school, they tend to clients as part of their training, always under the watchful eye of an expert. Their comprehensive, supervised services range from haircuts, deep-conditioning, and relaxer treatments to microdermabrasion and complexion-brightening facials. They can also revitalize entire physiques with body wraps. Regardless of the treatment at hand, the team strives to incorporate organic and natural products whenever possible, rather than those made with extracts from the Little Shop of Horrors plant.
The Sylvester family had bartending in its blood. Whether it was Uncle Mickey holding court with 40 years' worth of regulars or Tony Sr. mixing one of his signature Skip and Go Nakeds, they exemplified the easy grace and no-nonsense craftsmanship found in a true barman's barman. That dedication to well-poured drinks carried over to Tony Jr., who has spent the last 35 years training mixologists nationwide through the curriculum of his ABC Bartending Schools. Taught behind fully functional bars, his courses educate students in topics ranging from drink recipes and equipment setup to flair moves and alcohol awareness. His schools also emphasize employment; after graduation, students can take advantage of a nationwide job placement service to land gigs in Miami nightclubs, Las Vegas casinos, or the bar cars of Chicago's El trains.
