At each of Oxygen Yoga & Fitness? locations, trained fitness instructors guide students through a seven-day schedule packed with yoga, boot camp, meditation, and TRX suspension training classes. The modern studios come equipped with infrared heated yoga rooms where students strengthen muscles during yoga poses as the specialized light aims to improve their skin tone and erase their cellulite. During TRX suspension training sessions, exercisers are suspended in the air by belts attached to the ceiling and use their own body weight to fight gravity. The classes are designed for all fitness levels and aim to build long, lean muscles and give guests a place to practice their levitation skills. The studio also schedules kids' yoga sessions designed to increase children?s confidence and provide full-body workouts.
Heated air wafts through Westcoast Hot Yoga’s classrooms, seeping into tendons to facilitate stretches as deep and relaxing as Poseidon’s favourite chaise lounge. Within this toasty cocoon, which warms to 30–40 degrees, instructors impart poses designed to loosen and strengthen muscles and ligaments. With a variety of styles, they aim to help students of all levels bolster posture, concentration, and balance.
The White Rock and Yaletown locations rent out mats and sell replenishing beverages. When instructors aren’t leading classes at the studios, they tote their yoga knowledge to local businesses to help office workers battle stress and fatigue.
Bikram Yoga Surrey stretches its students through 90-minute sessions of therapeutic Hatha/Roja yoga, under the balanced guidance of experienced Bikram yogis. A 30-day unlimited yoga package ($120) allows bodies to bend through 26 poses in forty classes per week, the amount of time required for a gorilla to beat a chimpanzee at chess. Sessions start at 6 a.m. most days and glaze over zenith hours until after 9 p.m. Bikram yoga builds its breathing exercises and postures in a heated room so that joints are fully lubricated and lungs are poised to recite a thermophilic ode. Done sequentially, the 26 Bikram poses are known to improve flexibility, realign spines, flush the body, and tone muscles.
