After 15 years, Unique Salon & Spa's dedicated staffers carry on with a large slate of services under their new collective moniker. A thorough spa menu is divided among categories of "beauty," "body," "soul." The "beauty" menu offers haircuts, color services, and makeup applications, prepping faces and hair for swanky appearances. "Body" services tend to fingers and toes, painting delicate colors over newly buffed nails or removing unwanted body hair with waxes. Meanwhile, "soul" offers up therapeutic massages and facials, refreshing and rejuvenating muscles and skin.

More than 30 years after its inception, Cactus Salon & Spa and its team of continually educated stylists have not lost their edge?they earned the Long Island Press's designation as Best Hair Salon and Best Day Spa in 2011 and 2012. It's not surprising, then, that the salon has enjoyed such impressive growth over the years, with more than two dozen separate spa and salon locations.
Although hair is still the focus?stylists craft 'dos that reflect everyday ease or fashion-forward thinking?the repertoire has expanded to include everything from nail treatments and massages to permanent cosmetics and laser services. Since the roster is so broad, many clients take advantage of Cactus Club memberships, which give them the flexibility to try multiple services and products by deactivating the force fields between treatment rooms and granting a 33% discount on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
The stylists at I.D Salon aren't just in demand by their clients; several also work as artistic directors for such familiar brands as Sebastian, Wella, and Unite Professional Salon System. They've also educated other stylists around the globe, and they've styled coiffures for top designers at fashion week in New York and Los Angeles. But like a family living in a hollowed-out redwood, I.D Salon has deep roots in its community, too. In 2007, they partnered with the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund to raise more than $52,000 for breast-cancer research.
The stylists at Madison Salon & Spa don't just cut and color hair, groom fingers and toes with mani-pedis, and clear clogged pores with facials; they also have specialty services that enhance beauty in a variety of ways. Certified, licensed professionals add length and fullness with Great Lengths hair extensions and tame frizz with brazilian treatments. The staff provides full makeup services, as well as bridal services that prep women for their big days with trials and updos.
Old-fashioned grooming meets modern men's aesthetics at Prestige Barbers, where hair, nails, and whiskers luxuriate in manly pampering techniques. After gauging client preferences during the initial consultation, barbers snip manes into the optimal 'do, from a standard trim to fades, mohawks, and well-gelled Clark Gables. Just as in the days of yore, every shave commences with a hot-towel wrap to open pores and soften bristles before a single-blade razor glides through clouds of shaving cream, leaving cheeks and chins baby smooth. Technicians soak, file, and buff nails to a neat gleam, leaving confident digits ready to breeze through sandal season or to stop hiding inside boxing gloves during important business meetings.
After three decades in business, Scissors Salon and Day Spa has every pampering service down pat. That means stocking the shelves with chip-resistant Shellac polish for mani-pedis and keeping hairstylists? scissors and chainsaws extra sharp to cut hair. During acne-blasting and wrinkle-smoothing facials, aestheticians use Gerard?s products, which are crafted with marine water, plants, and vitamins. To enhance clients? relaxation, massage therapists offer reflexology and Swedish massages.
