  • Pampered Poodles and Terriers
If 4th Quarter Bar & Grill's big-screen TVs and walls teeming with sports memorabilia don’t prompt cheers from game-day fans, the expansive menu—awash in burgers, sandwiches, and hearty steaks—ought to rouse at least a few salutes. Jerseys from acclaimed players gaze down upon the kitchen's savory creations, which fill mornings with pancakes and egg dishes while whiling away the evening hours with chicken-fried steaks and eight flavors of wings. At the bar, drink slingers deliver frothy pours of more than 60 beers, forging braver hands for dart competitions and more heartfelt sing-alongs with the Internet jukebox. On Tuesdays, trivia buffs go head to head answering questions about current events, historic facts, and pop-culture knowledge, creating a more satisfying blend of comestibles and intellect than Galileo's invention of sliced bread.

  • Merlin's Full-Service Pet Care
Merlin's Full-Service Pet Care was named after owner Jessica Odell's bull terrier Merlin, whose ability to turn cats into turtles keeps visiting dogs in high spirits. Jessica and her tight-knit staff, including her mother and boyfriend, groom dogs of all sizes and provide pet-sitting and dog-boarding services. • See Spot Run
Most pups greet their owners with thumping tails after workers from eco-friendly See Spot Run LLC visit. The staff believes that pets are usually most at ease in the comfort of their own homes. That’s why they make home visits instead of running a daycare facility. While pet owners are busy working, running errands, or vacationing, these bonded-and-insured employees spend time with their furry friends, playing fetch, taking walks, or helping them with their tax returns. Staff members will also stay overnight to comfort anxious pets while their owners are away.

  • Pet Paradise Daytona Beach
The scene is a familiar one: hotel guests lounge beside the outdoor pool as staff members filter around, offering refreshments or collecting clients for a spa treatment. However, at Pet Paradise, the pool is bone shaped and all the guests are dogs. This luxurious scene is one cat and dog owners can find at this boarding and daycare facility that has been owner Fred Goldsmith's pride and joy for a decade. The animal lover was inspired to start his own pet hotel when he simply couldn’t find a place he was comfortable leaving his bichon frise when he went on vacation. Fred made Pet Paradise to his exact specifications, and the pet hotel's amenities reflect the loving care he lavishes on his own beloved pup. Dogs and cats can luxuriate in spa-quality grooming treatments or burn off some energy during group playtime. In the evening, pets can settle into plush bedding and feel safe knowing that the dedicated live-in staff resides just a bark away. Nocturnal kitties spend the night exploring their own private six-level cat condos while gentle spa music fills the air to keep them entertained. In case of any emergencies, Pet Paradise keeps veterinarians on-call, and in the event of a snack emergency, each staff member is a certified bacon cook.

Inside, 120 species of fish, turtles, and alligators swim, from the enormous 8-foot-long Gulf sturgeon to adorable turtles such as the red-eared slider. Permanent Mainstay: The Cypress Creek Aviary houses indigenous birds such as the great egret and little blue heron. Don't Miss: The Hatchery, where fish are raised from egg to fingerling before being transferred to other exhibits Hands-On Experiments: Get up close and personal with one of the Flint River Basin's denizens during animal encounters, regularly scheduled on the weekend.
