Throngs of excited runners crouch along the starting line, all dressed in pristine white T-shirts. As the Color in Motion 5K begins, the sea of bodies sets off along the course, where handfuls of purple-, blue-, and yellow-colored powder start flying in from the sidelines. The safe concoction of cornstarch and dye sprinkles onto faces, shirts, shorts, and skin, dressing runners in a technicolor haze. Teams or individuals make their way through the 5K course, and finish the race wearing a pallet of washable and biodegradable paint. Each race partners and benefits local charities, with racers running individually, in teams, or sponsored by their favorite Crayola color.

Named after the Australian slang for “have a go,” the Avago Mud Run encourages each runner to have a go at a mud-ridden 5K obstacle course. The path is peppered with myriad obstacles ranging from a tire wall and farmer's walk to a hay mountain and mystery challenges. All obstacles are optional; however, runners who don’t complete an obstacle will not be eligible for final placement. Unlike Karl Malone’s birthday shindig, the after party is open to everyone and entertains the masses with live music and beer as they clean up and party down. A portion of all proceeds goes to benefit the Big Bend Homeless Coalition.

The annual Camp Kesem - 5K 4 CK fuses the splash-centric fun of a water park with the competitive spirit of a 5K race to raise money for a charitable cause. Armed with water balloons and water guns, racers dodge their way through a pre-set track, soaking, being soaked, and replenishing parched flowerbeds on their way to the finish line. Filling stations throughout the race ensure racers never run out of H2O to chuck at one another. In addition to cooling off participants, the race also gives back to the community; all proceeds go to Camp Kesem, a free weeklong summer camp of fun activities for children who have a parent affected by cancer.

Taking place on rugged, 10K–12K courses across the country, the Green Beret Challenge gives participants the chance to demonstrate the legendary toughness and endurance of the race's namesakes. In teams of two or four, male, female, and coed crews all take a stab at glory. Armed with backpacks, lengths of rope, and sturdy D-rings, each team must prove its mental and physical tenacity by tackling a series of challenges that require participants to scale obstacles and carry heavy loads across mud, sand, and other surfaces. Every race is followed by a celebration, during which winners are awarded prizes and every of-age finisher receives a complimentary beer to quench thirst and complement endorphin highs.
