Convenient Cleaners transforms dirt-ridden duds into elegant apparel with ultramodern equipment and 100% biodegradable, noncaustic solvents, as well as complimentary pickup and delivery services. Formal and casual garb alike, including men's shirts ($1.95+), blouses, slacks, and skirts ($5.25 each), can bask in a shrink-free cleansing more thorough than pumping soap bubbles into the closet. Blazers ($6.25 each) shed unsightly stains left from evenings of tossed cocktails, and suits ($10.95 each) of silk, rayon, cotton, or polyester regain youthful resplendence with the help of a staff that hand presses garments at specialized stations—ensuring that every pleat or hem remains as crisp or intriguingly rumpled as the designer intended.
Formerly the Lingerie Football League, the Legends Football League stands as the "fastest-growing pro sports league in the nation" according to NBC Sports correspondent Rick Chandler. That success owes much to the league's unique format, which pits two exclusively female teams in alluring uniforms against each other in full-contact football games on a 50-yard field. Donning football pads and helmets over their revealing performance wear, the female athletes block, juke, and sprint uninhibited by such frivolous gear as the NFL's heavy chainmail hauberks.
Taking it’s cue from the hit television show The Amazing Race, the Gorilla Challenge pits teams of urban scavengers in a two-to-four hour race against time, scouring the city for illuminating clues that lead to valuable cash prizes. Partnering with the Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis, this heart-pounding, madcap puzzledrome fills the home of the Cowboys with amateur sleuths and merry pranksters madly dashing to win cash prizes of $500 for first place, $250 for second place, $100 for third place, and $50 for best costume. The challenge begins when your team receives a clue-filled card outlining 12 of the day's challenges; complete 10 correct challenges and race back to the start to claim your cash bounty or consolation water pick. As proof of challenge completions, teams take photographic evidence along this 3 to 5 mile radius of mystery, as the next challenge could include puzzle solving, musical numbers, making silly-faces, or recreating American Gothic. Special mini prizes line the path, with successful sleuths winning swag such as iPods and gift certificates to local restaurants and retailers. Following the brouhaha, every racer is invited to partake in swinging post-event entertainment, where exhilarated Sherlocks and sun-kissed Watsons bask in the completion of their good deeds and FDA–recommended daily puzzle race requirement with live music and food and drink specials.
Shannon Holt, a mostly self-taught photographer who learned her craft by doing copious amounts of research on the Internet, created Studio77 Photography in 2008. The self-described chatty photographer prefers to get to know clients over coffee before their shoot, discussing details such as the desired makeup and wardrobe look and how to turn an old negligee into a sexy handkerchief. She prides herself on empowering women during daring boudoir shoots and has developed her own editing techniques to add the finishing touches on images.
State Representative Helen Gordon Davis founded The Centre for Women in 1977 to help women attain self-sufficiency through a variety of services, including professional and family counseling, job placement, and substance-abuse treatment. She based The Centre for Women in the renovated Ward-Taliaferro House, a turn-of-the-century home with neoclassical architecture and a warm environment.
Since its founding, The Centre for Women has gradually added additional programs to assist other demographics, such as providing home repairs for senior citizens and offering arts and literacy enrichment to girls. Today, its programs empower, educate, and inspire more than 3,000 women and families every year.
