Emerge Community Center was created to provide a place for people to "emerge" into the versions of themselves they always wanted. At this community center, yoga studio, and acupuncture clinic, clients come to interact in a nurturing environment and reconnect their bodies and minds on a journey towards wellness. Owner and licensed acupuncturist Dana Bairen and her staff of qualified instructors help provide acupuncture, Oriental Medicine, yoga, meditation, and massage therapy. During the Zen Meditation session, students are taught to clear and quiet minds, while the Hatha yoga class uses asanas to open energy channels and the cage doors of spirit animals within the body. With hardwood floors and big windows that let in sunlight, Emerge Community Center provides a place for peaceful interaction and self-healing.
At Hegel Yoga, instructors delve deep into yogic study, teaching not only poses and breathing, but also the science at work within the body. The studio offers a unique, twelve-week yoga anatomy class that teaches how the muscles, blood, and respiratory systems interact with each other during each movement and pose throughout a yoga practice. [Instructors] (http://www.hegelyoga.com/AboutUs.html) also nurture each student’s exploration of Ashtanga technique, with beginning level classes that focus on foundational postures, movements, and mindful breathing. As students progress they build strength and endurance through standing poses, while slower floor postures help release tension in the hips and spine. Hegel also offers mysore, open-style sessions without instructor. These sessions allow students to come in and work at their own pace, making them ideal for yogis who march to the beat of their own feet drumming on the ceiling.

As part of the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, a private college that educates holistic healthcare providers, Spirit of Yoga focuses on self-restoration and self-empowerment. The classes here range from traditional Vinyasa yoga, which combines poses into a continuous flow, to more creative sessions on a “yoga wall”. But all emphasize more spiritual practices, focusing on movements and breath work that provide therapeutic benefits. Meditation is offered as part of many of the sessions. That’s not to say Spirit of Yoga doesn’t have fitness-oriented classes as well; if you want to get your heart rate up, take Hatha Tone, which uses body weight training techniques for a muscle toning workout.
The schedule here is accommodating, covering a variety of disciplines and skill levels. All classes are drop-in, though some request reservations. Check out the Soy Shop while you’re in the studio if you want to pick up some yoga-related gear, books, or jewelry.
At Guru Momma's studio, yogis strip away the stumbling blocks that traditionally stand between busy moms and their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Onsite childcare services crowdsource temporary mothering duties to a caring team of moms from the Guru Momma community. For kids who would rather participate than sit on the sidelines, kids yoga and mommy-and-me classes give tykes the chance to strengthen their growing bodies and earn hours towards earning their flying-yoga-mat permits. While the power and restorative yoga classes offload a multitude of benefits for practitioners, including better flexibility, balance, and mental clarity, Guru Momma also offers other holistic healing services such as massage, reiki, and nutrition consultations.
