More than 8,000 miles separate Manila from Dallas, a journey that board-certified plastic surgeon Alfedo Rodriguez made in stages. It began at the University of Santo Tomas where he earned his bachelor’s degree and doctorate and set himself up for a residency of general surgery at the University of Philippines. In New Jersey, he established his US credentials with a residency in general surgery before completing a residency in plastic surgery at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland. He first arrived in Dallas as the chairman of the department of surgery at Dallas Regional Medical Center before opening Southwest Plastic Surgery Center. At the center, he and his staff perform liposuction and cosmetic surgeries along with less-invasive options for rejuvenation such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels. Dr. Rodriguez is equally adept at matters of function as of form: he also specializes in hand surgeries that alleviate carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive-stress injuries.
When Kristina Bauer?a yoga veteran with 20 years of experience and 1,000 classes under her mat?opened Yoga Synergy Spa, she wanted to create a space that felt more like a home than a gym or a corporate chain. Today, her studio glows with her own homemade candles while yogis lead guests through various styles of yoga, including heated Vinyasa flow, Hatha yoga for all levels, a class that invites kids and their parents to stretch together, and even Zumba. In addition to its group session, the studio embraces its spa side with Reiki, infrared sauna sessions, and massage therapy that complements Kristina?s pursuit of peacefulness in the same way that playing Marco Polo can add a little fun to a shark attack. An on-location retail shop stocks yoga mats, homemade natural soaps, and veggie candles.
The gratitude expressed on Dr. Schwartz's patient stories page is a testament to his medical skill and compassionate nature. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, he has built a reputation as an expert minimizer, augmenter of breasts, lifter of brows and eyelids, and slimmer of bellies and buns. All his procedures are driven by his mission to help patients realize their aesthetic goals—not by pressuring them into the operating room, but by thoroughly explaining all the treatment options and letting each person decide the best course of action. Dr. Schwartz shares his professional opinions on his radio show, "Plastic Surgery Today," in lectures to other tradesfolk, and around the clinic's backyard campfire.
While performing her residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Dr. Ellen Turner built a strong foundation for treating dermatological conditions such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis, and skin cancer. She designed DermLaser Institute of Dallas to treat skin maladies ranging from eczema and melasma to scar treatment. She and her staff tone and brighten complexions with skin treatments as well as medical, cosmetic, and laser procedures. Outside of simple skin-brightening work, DermLaser Institute of Dallas also wields Yag and Fraxel lasers to perform facial rejuvenation, body contouring, hair removal, and tattoo removal. Dr. Turner also works below the surface in her spa, treating faces with injectables and dermal fillers in addition to traditional chemical peels, facials, and microdermabrasion treatments. She also helps clients keep up at-home regimens with Belladermis, her personally curated product shop that includes cleansers by SkinMedica, lotions from Obagi, and a mysterious salve that turns dogs invisible.
