Within two studios, spanning across 2,800 square feet of dancing space, ballerinas-in-training of all ages prance across the floor under the instruction of an expert teacher. The teacher holds Dinky Dance classes for children ages 2–6 and power ballet fitness classes for adults, but the real specialty is Dance Academy. The program is designed to teach youngsters ages 2 and older the discipline and artistry of their preferred style, whether it’s ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, or hip-hop. Three times per year, students flaunt their moves for friends and family in a choreographed, costumed dance recital.
Denver Academy of Ballet was established in 2001 to offer the best technical training available to students interested in pursuing a career in dance and to those who simply wish to have fun. The Academy encourages technical skill, enjoyment, self-esteem, musicality and personal growth for all students.
Whether you're a beginner or a multi-trophy-winning competitor, the instructors at Colorado Dancesport want to help you achieve your dancing goals. They take the time to learn why each student is treading their wood floors; some students want to dance in a social, couples-oriented environment, and others are preparing for a special occasion, such as a wedding or an intraoffice dance-off to control copy-machine access. The talented staffers include a former member of the U.S. international ice-dancing team, professionals who danced at the 2008 CMA Awards, and experts in sports conditioning and physical fitness.
In addition to private lessons and group classes, the crew schedules weekly dance parties to help students practice new moves. The team also offers special events, such as traveling to competitions and an annual, professional-style showcase.
Broadway Music School is more than just a studio for music lessons; it’s a collaborative community where students meet to learn, appreciate, and enjoy music of all styles. Their vast roster of instructors covers almost any instrument imaginable, from guitar and piano to the more obscure, such as the euphonium, bagpipes, and taiko drums. The instructors are well versed in all styles classical and contemporary, allowing students to explore rare genres such as celtic violin, gypsy-jazz guitar, or flamenco guitar. They also lead lessons in subjects such as music theory, improvisation, ear training, composition, and song writing, allowing students to join ensembles once they learn how to play.
Every performer has a different goal. Recognizing this, the teaching staff at Academy of the Arts-Denver (each a professional in his or her respective field) designs all of their lesson plans around their students' individual goals. These highly personalized plans shape the approach to the school's age-specific, professional and recreational group acting and vocal classes. The teaching staff also uses their 75 years of accumulated experience to focus on talent development, whether students want to break into the business, or perform for the joy of it. Private lessons help build proficiency in guitar, bass, drums, and music production. Though lessons focus on specific technical training, the teachers encourage creative experimentation no matter the genre. Former students have established careers in TV, Broadway, Film, and Music. As they learn, Academy of the Arts-Denver's students are also encouraged to take part in rehearsals and performances.
