Maximum Athletic Center's dedicated and experienced gymnastics instructors lead burgeoning tumblers ages 18 months through 18 years through routines that build strength, coordination, flexibility, and balance in a safe and supportive environment. Fledgling athletes of all levels cultivate skills and tumbleweed-stunt-double experience during one-hour classes once a week. Preschoolers engage in a meet-and-greet with the trampoline, the balance beam, the bars, and the matted floor, developing motor skills and self-confidence, and all ages discover buoyancy in trampoline classes as they bound across safe, in-ground trampolines. Girls and boys ages 5 and older can learn non-competitive gymnastics skills during developmental gymnastics classes, and those six and older can handspring into tumbling classes to learn how to safely flip across the mats and inconspicuously roll out of uncomfortable conversations. Check each location's website for class schedules.

My Gym, which has more than 200 international locations, began more than 20 years ago as a structured place for children to safely play, acquire new skills, and romp off a sugar buzz. All classes are organized according to age level—from 7 months–13 years old—and are designed to incorporate the latest physiological, psychological, and meteorological research. The junior gym offers classes for all developmental degrees, from Tiny Tykes, a class for parents and babies that focuses on movement, to Champions, which empowers 6- to 8-year-olds with sports and gymnastics skills.

Gold's Gym began more than 45 years ago and today features an impressive array of next-generation fitness gadgets, a results-oriented focus, clean facilities, and certified personal trainers. Hop on a cardio machine, possibly including a built-in TV, pump up in a controlled manner on strength-training machines, tighten up in the abdominal and functional stretching area, or stick with lifting huge, heavy pieces of metal and commercial chest freezers. Facilities and classes vary by location; weekly classes include Zumba, BodyCombat, yoga, Pilates, group cycling, and lion punching.

At each of its 31 area locations, the YMCA of Greater Houston pursues a mission to bring health, wellness, and personal growth to communities. Kids leap into activities ranging from swim lessons and youth sports to a teen Youth & Government program that stirs up confidence and leadership abilities in students, preparing them for mudslinging student-council campaigns.

Zumba, ballroom dance, and Les Mills group exercise classes shake up adult workout routines, as complimentary childcare frees up parents to pursue fitness goals. Meanwhile, adult sport leagues such as basketball and racquetball result in friendly competition and hyper-literate team names inspired by obscure philosophers.
