Impact Total Bodyshaping & Core Fitness are located in East Shore of The Woodlands. Core Fitness is not a big-box fitness center and we'll never make you sign a membership contract. We are a small boutique fitness studio that will make you feel like family, not just a membership number. Core Fitness caters to everyone ranging from those seeking to get back into shape to elite and professional athletes. The IMPACT Total Bodyshaping program is the perfect way to jump-start getting back into shape or changing up your workout routine to get a lean, healthy physique.

What makes your business stand out?
Impact Total Bodyshaping lets you choose between an 8 week/5 days per week challenge for fastest results or a 12 week/3 days per week option to fit your schedule. Class size is limited to 10 people, so you will receive lots of one-on-one attention. If you join the Impact Total Bodyshaping program, you get a complimentary nutrition consultation with one of the senior trainers. Unlike many "boot camp" type programs, Impact let's you work out in air-conditioned comfort in a fun, energetic, supportive environment.

What inspired you to start or run this business?
After spending a few years in corporate America and feeling like just a number, I always wanted to have my own business and make a difference in people's lives. I've always been passionate about fitness, food, and nutrition and I want to pass on my knowledge and enthusiasm to others.

What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a customer?
I think the best reaction I've heard was "You've changed my life." I also love hearing "I've dropped 2 dress sizes" or "I can now fit into my goal jeans" after only a few weeks.

What’s your favorite part about your job?
I love helping [clients] achieve challenging life goals and inspiring people to both feel their best and be their best in life.

Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
We keep clients motivated by building relationships and understanding their goals. Our bikes are designed to develop your abdominal, bicep, and tricep muscles along with your legs. You will also burn on average 20% more calories compared to stationary bikes.

Sweating to the oldies is acceptable, but sweating to the blues less so. Do you find that certain styles and genres of music generate more intense workouts?
We like to use all different genres of music. We will use classics, techno, rock, country, hip-hop, dub step, and more. Also we take request from our clients on the music they like so we can continue to build classes that you want to attend.

Do you run your gym according to a particular exercise philosophy?
We want everybody to be able to have fun and make an effort. As long as you are trying, you will continue to improve.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
We have 10 RealRyder Bikes that turn, tilt, and lean as you ride, providing the fluid sensation of an outdoor road bike. As you move through an expanded range of dynamic, functional movements, you get a more comprehensive, functional total body workout with special emphasis on activating essential core muscles.

A lifelong learner, he constantly studies journals and articles to give him a better idea of how to match each of his clients with the proper fitness program. Part of this matching process is figuring out what, exactly, these clients want. Shortly after introducing himself, Rex will likely ask you a series of questions—do you want to lose weight? Reduce your stress? Improve your flexibility?

The answers to these questions determine a lot. If you're a baseball or soccer player, for example, Rex may recommend a sports-specific training program designed with your on-field position in mind. If your end goal is to touch your toes or lick the bottom of your foot, he'll likely recommend a self-myofascial-release class that teaches easy ways to improve flexibility and reduce muscle tension. Surfset Fitness Houston's classes combine the full-body workout of surfing with the convenience of being able to stay dry and indoors. They accomplish this by utilizing the RipSurfer X apparatus: a surfboard-like platform that remains firmly on the ground, yet still forces students to focus on maintaining their balance. Throughout each class, the instructors will lead groups through sequences of exercises inspired by real-world surfing movements, such as paddling from a prone stance, quickly springing up into a standing position, and moonwalking across the board. The incorporation of high-intensity aerobic training and various multi-planar movements creates a workout that helps forge strong cores and lean, defined muscles over time. Since the RipSurfer X is not fully stable, each movement simultaneously engages major muscle groups and small, stabilizing muscles while students make virtually imperceptible adjustments to keep their balance. Part gym, part gymnastics arena, and part fitness playground, CrossFit OverTake challenges aspiring athletes as they push toward their fitness and health goals. Helming each class, trainers Alexis Burgan—who is CrossFit level-one certified—and Marco Coppola—a certified CrossFit level-one trainer, CrossFit Strongman, and former NCAA and pro football player—shout words of encouragement as they lead workouts of the day (WOD) based on CrossFit’s 10 general physical skills of fitness. The workouts change each day, much like workout socks, and draw from weight training, kettlebell moves, body-weight exercises, rowing, running, and unconventional techniques such as battle ropes and ring dips.
