Clearwater Clinic’s thee chiropractic doctors, Bryan Baisinger, Jacob May, and Greg Lekas, all share at least one other passion: athletics. Dr. Baisinger, the owner, specializes in sports medicine and performance. When he isn’t in the office, he’s serving as team physician for Portland State University’s athletics department, medical director for the Portland Fit marathon-training group, or hapkido instructor at Portland State.
Dr. May is a member of the physical therapy team at the Oregon Ballet Theater, Dr. Lekas teaches martial arts, and both donate their time and skills to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training sports-training program. At Clearwater, all three doctors combine their areas of expertise to provide integrative chiropractic care with manipulative therapy and manual-adjustment techniques.
They’re aided by a team of specialists that helps identify a range of issues—whether it’s mental stress caused by working too much or physical stress caused by tunneling out of a work cubicle. Naturopathic doctor Lindsey Nelson educates patients on plans for stress reduction and proper nutrition. Lori Petras, meanwhile, treats clients with acupuncture or Chinese herbs. And, using modalities such as deep-tissue, Swedish, and hot or cold-stone massage, a pair of licensed massage therapists removes tension from muscles.
The purple-railed porch running along Revolution Hair & Body Salon’s storefront is as rustic and relaxed as the ambiance inside. There, a crowd of smiles and a stash of eco-friendly products encourage complete renewal and transformation of clients’ hair, skin, and overall self-image. To stay ahead of the latest techniques, the laid-back stylists continually attend classes, filling their menu with such fetching services as highlights or GuyLites and natural-looking or bold color. They also extend their beautifying attention downward from the scalp with detoxifying facials, tanning and waxing sessions, and soothing infrared-sauna visits that help enhance circulation and thaw the frozen cavemen you found in your backyard.
At Common Ground Wellness Center's two locations, diverse patrons seek health through holistic body treatments including therapeutic massage and acupuncture, and soak up relaxation in a bathhouse with an outdoor whirlpool and cedar sauna. The center's co-op location invites visitors of all genders to soak in the facility's swimsuit-optional spa throughout open sessions or during hours designated for male, female, or trans and genderqueer persons. Visitors who regularly use alternative transportation—including their bike, feet, or polar bear—can claim a complimentary soak or sauna on their 11th trip. An eclectic roster of 30 bodywork practitioners practices at both the co-op and 106 year-old Flanders House venues, healing clients' minds and bodies with hands-on massage and chiropractic therapies alongside naturopathic guidance and emotional counseling.
Choose any facial therapy, or add on additional treatments and pay the difference. Bellini's offers countenance cleansers to suit any fatigued face. The Deep Cleanse will sarcastically insult whiteheads until they wither in shame, and the Aromatherapy Anti-Stress facial can smooth and soothe the skin of the most tense of folks, such as one whose 10 fingers are all caught in Chinese finger traps. To water dry patches until they sprout fresh dandelions, opt for the Hydrating facial.
Furnished with an antique vanity mirror, red leather pedicure chairs, and a vintage lime-green sofa, Chameleon Salon physically represents the staff’s laid-back, funky, and creative attitudes. In that upbeat environment, they cut and color hair, apply rejuvenating facials, and buff and polish nails. A full-service spa, the list of indulgent services can fill whole days with waxing and teeth-whitening treatments. And, as an all-encompassing oasis, Chameleon also offers services customized to suit those of the male persuasion.
