The White House of the Confederacy constituted the social, political, and military headquarters of Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis during the Civil War. Later named a National Historic Landmark, the building still stands today. Daily guided tours lead guests through the grand 19th-century structure, which houses more than half its original wartime furnishings.
The White House is only steps away from The Museum of the Confederacy's Richmond location, where a core exhibit chronicles the Confederacy from its beginnings to General Robert E. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. Opened 25 years after that fateful event, the nonprofit museum displays artifacts from a collection of more than 15,000 items. They include Stonewall Jackson's sword, a letter from Pope Pius IX, and all the pennies Jefferson Davis etched his face onto in his spare time.
Meanwhile, another 400 artifacts adorn the permanent exhibit at the museum's Appomattox location. Here, a dozen audiovisual stations, parole lists, and the uniform coat worn by Lee illustrate the event that brought the Civil War to a close.

After three decades of holistic-therapy research, Brenda “Bebe” Ball founded Rejuvenation Station to share her belief in a natural path to wellness. The center’s noninvasive treatments range from infrared body wraps, which fight cellulite and burn calories while also improving skin, to ion detox footbaths, which draw out toxins and boost energy. Bebe has also brought Japanese technologies to Rejuvenation Station in the form of an electro reflex energizer, which stimulates acupressure points, and an e-power machine, whose high-frequency energy works to accelerate healing and aid mental focus.

EventZone's Party in the Park summer concert series at Elmwood Park helps Thursday ditch its weekday persona and get loose with food, drinks, fun events, and a different musical headliner every week. On June 16, hips wiggle, toes tap, and fingers form synchronized kick-lines to the southern-rock sounds of Jim Quick & Coastline. The festival's more than 13,000 frolickers can unwind with a Budweiser or glass of Gallo wine ($4 each), or indulge in a guilt-free splurge on festival cuisine and soda, knowing that part of Party in the Park's proceeds go to local nonprofit organizations. With Parrothead Night as the theme of the evening, Jimmy Buffet fans and their exceedingly loyal spouses can feel free to don Hawaiian garb and warm up their margarita hands for the slushy merriment ahead, and Davidson's Clothing for Men takes over the stage at band intermission to give away free T-shirts ideal for hiding malfunctioning coconut bikinis.

Most popular offering: Psychic reading
What sets your business apart from your competition?
As a professional psychic medium, I tailor your reading specifically to your needs. I sense the truth about the past, present, and future. I also tap into current and near-future situations, as well as the other people in your life. I connect easily to those that have crossed to the other side. Often, I sketch as part of your reading to illustrate the symbols, energies, people, guides, and colors that I pick up in your auric field.
What was the inspiration for starting this business?
In 2010, I attended the Arthur Findlay College of Psychic Science in England, which is known as the world's premier college of mediumship. While there, three world-class mediums suggested I begin doing private readings and teaching psychic development. Until then, I'd never considered my natural gift as something other people would be interested in. It is now my utmost pleasure to offer readings and see the lives of my clients transformed.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
I happily offer private readings by appointment only.
What is the best reaction you?ve ever gotten from a customer?
Enthusiastic repeat and referral business.
What?s your favorite part about your job?
Seeing fear and worry disappear from the faces of my clients as their confidence and peace is restored.
