Since 1962, Ocean Ice Palace has given youngsters the opportunity to lace up their skates and participate in the healthy, active outlets of ice skating and hockey. The center is the vision of Dr. Leon J. Dwulet, who oversaw the building of the facility and whose daughter runs the show today. In keeping with its founding mission, the rink takes hockey seriously. Not only do instructors coach beginners through skating and hockey clinics, but the rink hosts several traveling teams and even furnishes hockey campers with dormitories in which to sleep. The rink also invites more casual skaters to visit for public skating sessions on weekends and holidays.

The Igloo Ice Rink at Mount Laurel furnishes hockey players and figure skaters with ample space to practice puck handling, triple-toe loops, and all-around skating technique. Figure skaters as young as 3 can learn the basics in group and private lessons led by USFSA-registered coaches, who guide beginners along their journey through intermediate and advanced levels. Hockey leagues for both juniors and adults are also available, and designated open skate times invite the public in for taking laps around the rink or practice carving marriage proposals into frozen ponds.

The three fun centers give energetic cubs a place to stretch their legs and giggle their lungs out by housing a variety of amusing, aerobic activities. Roller skaters twirl and glide during International Sports Centre's and Deptford Skating's public skating hours, turning ordinary weekend afternoons into carefree roller romps. Feet ditch roller skates for socks inside FunZone, a multilevel maze of nets, slides, and monkey bars that spurs boisterous rounds of lava tag. Adventure Alley also occupies lively limbs, this time with bouncy inflatable playgrounds, such as Roo's giant slide, a popular alternative to doing algebra on a trampoline. Only children ages 10 and under are allowed in FunZone and Adventure Alley.

For many local residents, rolling around the rink at Cherry Hill Skating and Fun Center is a bit of a tradition. The center has been open well over 35 years?so for many visitors, strapping on a pair of skates brings a wave of nostalgia. It also doesn't hurt that they have adult skate nights, when DJs spin tunes from the '70s, '80s, and '90s. Of course, the center also caters to children; in addition to open-skate sessions, Cherry Hill Skating and Fun Center hosts youth hockey and birthday parties. An onsite shop also sells skates, wheels, and accessories, so people can roll over all the flat surfaces they find out in the wild.

Ranging from junior hockey players to New Jersey state figure-skating champions, the team of coaches imparts skills during everything from introductory skating lessons to four-day hockey camps. When the center isn't hosting the public for skate sessions, ProtecHockey Ponds Ice Center is home to the Rutgers University Men's Ice Hockey team, the Protec Ducks Hockey Program, and the nationally recognized Protec Academy Learn-to-Skate Program. Beyond the boards, a full-service café serves lattes for visitors to warm up before watching the center's hockey teams. The rink's staff can also host birthday parties, group outings, and fundraisers in their private room.
