Snapping evocative, story-telling pictures is more than a profession to photographer Jay Mayer. It's a family tradition. Long before Jay took the reigns of Trenton Photography, which was established by his family more than 50 years ago, he spent his entire childhood surrounded by photographers who frequently discussed their own work. This cultivated Jay's deep love and appreciation for the art. Today, he works closely with his clients to capture both noteworthy and natural moments during his photo shoots. Jay and his team wield their digital cameras for a wide array of occasions, including family portraits, pet sessions, or monumental events such as weddings, communions and graduations. They can also perform videography services.
When the wind is howling and the roads are icy, the cozy couches and comfy seats beyond Take 5 Gourmet's foggy windows look particularly inviting. Once they enter the artwork-speckled space, guests can shrug off their coats and order a hot cocoa or frothy latte before curling up on one the arabesque armchairs. Cheerful servers man the counter, plating freshly baked pastries and showering crepes in caramel, cinnamon, and toasted walnuts. Some evenings, performers take the stage to show off their guitar skills, singing talents, or ability to hold their breath for almost a whole minute.
When the sun is bright and the air is warm, however, it’s the sidewalk patio that holds the most appeal. Here, guests can lounge on deck chairs as they snack on wholesome tarragon chicken salad wraps and sip on ice-cold smoothies. No matter the season, though, cafe-goers can always grab a box of creamy Astor's chocolates or a gourmet gift basket to take home with them.
At Sportsmens Pub, a stout brick façade bottles up the raucous laughter and warm camaraderie of the pub’s friendly crowd of neighborhood regulars. Sporting events flicker on television screens as bartenders pour frothy brews into pints and pitchers, and servers deliver trays of appetizers to tables. Half-pound burgers and giant calzones stuffed with spinach, meatballs, and peppers apply a full-court press on larger appetites. On Friday nights, the pub hosts free Texas Hold ‘em tournaments for poker enthusiasts or those looking for an excuse to wear sunglasses indoors. Sportsmens Pub’s menu of tasty pub fare takes its act on the road with a catering service that insulates bellies celebrating birthdays or a dog’s reelection to the town council.
Cuban-born Liliana Perez is as an accomplished artist who first caught the creative bug at the age of 6. Since then, she's had solo exhibitions across Chicago and New York, racked up a slew of awards, taught extensively, and adorned schools with her murals. She's even worked as a scenic artist at Steppenwolf, the Lyric Opera, and other top-tier theaters.
But Liliana knows that not everyone boasts that same extensive artistic background, and she knows that some people feel intimidated to pick up a paintbrush or pencil. That's why she offers relaxed BYOB painting lessons for small groups. During these sessions, she works to bring out the natural creativity in her students, who pick up technical skills while learning to trust their own artistic voices.

After planting roots in Latin America 40 years ago, Pollo Campero branched out across borders, planting more than 50 locations in the U.S and across the world. Today, at its Trenton location, chefs marinate and season chicken by hand, using a special blend of herbs and spices. After grilling or frying, the flavorful morsels are tucked into tortillas to make burritos, slide between slices of sandwich bread, or nestle into family meals alongside up to 19 other pieces. Patrons can cart their meals home for consumption or stick around to impress passerby by juggling their chicken wings in front of the eatery's broad windows.
