A tennis lesson is only as helpful as its instructor. Thankfully, Doylestown Tennis Club has a veteran staff of certified USPTA pros on hand to coach players of all experience levels. The club features eight indoor courts and four outdoor courts that are put to use during friendly games and competitive league matches, as well as a host of other amenities including a lounge, clubhouse, kitchen, nursery, and locker rooms.
The Narberth Tennis Club, which houses the Julian Krinsky School, is well equipped to suit sporting needs with four well-lit, high-visibility, U.S. Open–blue indoor tennis courts and top-of-the-line golf-course simulators. Golf lessons take place under the watchful eye of head golf pro Grant Griffiths, who provides swing instruction with indoor golf-course simulators and coaching instruction with indoor brain-knowledge. Participants are encouraged to bring their own rackets, clubs, and balls, but just like heading to the pool's lost and found when you forget your swimsuit, there are usually some available on hand to borrow.
At Murray Hill Health & Racquet Club, the mission is simple: Look and feel better. The route you take in getting there, though, is completely up to you. Since 1972, the club has offered guests and members a varied selection of fitness opportunities. Today, it features cardio machines equipped with individual TVs, strength-training gear, and more than 50 large-group classes. And the trainers provide sports-specific training with year-round golf and tennis programs. For added convenience, the club also hosts childcare services, which means parents don't need to find a babysitter.
Whether training for a tournament or learning the rules for the first time, tennis players have plenty to love about the Pennsbury Racquet Club. Nine indoor courts, each newly resurfaced and illuminated with extra-bright, eco-friendly lighting, invite players to test their skills against each other, a ball machine, or the disapproving sports announcer in their head. To take players' games to the next level, USPTA- and PTR-certified coaches, some with more than 25 years of experience, offer private and semi-private lessons. There's also an on-site racket repair center, where players can get their equipment restrung and customized by a professional tech who's worked for Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, and Maria Sharapova.
The high ceilings at Courtside Racquet Club, located on Route 31 South in Lebanon, hang above a row of six indoor hard tennis courts. The staff of experienced instructors preside over a full slate of player-development programs for adults, juniors, and kids as young as 3 years old. The club also hosts USTA tournaments and events that blur the line between competitive and social, such as the Beer and Balls doubles league. After a three-set match or a particularly tough practice session, members and their guests can cool off at the outdoor pool. A lounge, men's and women's locker rooms, and a full-service tennis shop are also available.
