SwingTEK Golf Academy invites golfers to hone their skills year-round. Inside the 6,800-square-foot facility, visitors can practice their swings at five hitting bays; chip their way out of a sand bunker; and improve their short game on a 900-square-foot putting green. They can also have their swings analyzed by the academy's advanced software, including a wireless biomechanical vest. Outfitted with sensors, this vest measures rotation, pitch, and tilt of a player's body and swing movements, spitting out results in seconds to make tracking progress easy. After perfecting their approach, golfers can show off their skills during rounds on the facility's high-def simulator, which is pre-loaded with more than 15 of the world's most renowned courses.

Martial arts form the axis on which Krav Maga Detroit spins, but it's far from the only option here. With 5,000 square feet, four training floors, and a dozen experienced instructors, the school offers coaching in a variety of disciplines. Along with krav maga, students can take kickboxing, weapons defense, and women-only self-defense. Alternatively, guided workouts, such as kettlebell training and yoga, enhance athletic function. A pro shop offers training apparel and gear, and in the locker room, trainees shower, change, and wax mustaches into intimidating shapes.
At Detroit Academy of Martial Arts, head instructor Joe Graunstadt and his team relay the teachings of Renzo Gracie, the grandson of Brazilian jiujitsu's creator, Carlos Gracie. During training programs, students learn jiujitsu self-defense tactics and related life skills, such as stress management and wood chopping. The academy also schedules mixed martial arts and muay thai kickboxing classes.
