The diversity of programs at AZ Boxing & Fitness speaks to its instructors' belief that martial arts can hold the key to achieving fitness goals, no matter one's age or experience level. Classes for adults run the gamut from Zumba to boxing, which cover the basics of shadowboxing, footwork, and bagwork, to condition the body and relieve stress and calories. In addition to overseeing more than 40 classes a week, the instructors also run personal-training sessions, where they design fitness plans geared toward losing weight or improving athletic performance.
O2 Modern Fitness helps clients of all fitness levels and walks of life reach their full fitness potential—including current mayor Jonathan Rothschild, who promotes physical fitness city-wide. With his days packed full of rich lunch meetings and countless hours at the desk, Rothschild spends his mornings pedaling away calories.
Now a tried-and-true fitness emporium, O2 Modern Fitness began when Susan Frank realized the key to keeping her genetically high cholesterol low: cycling. Today, helping clients achieve strength and conditioning through cycling (CYCL) and Cross Training (CROSS) are the primary goals of O2, thanks to self-paced group training. Yet beyond the bike, certified staff members lead students though high-intensity interval training that includes body-weight exercises plus the use of kettlebells and sandbags within the CROSS conditioning classes that heighten core strength and mobility.
When Justin List was 13 years old, he went to the gym for the first time with his older brother and started inventing new exercises. Working out has been a part of his life ever since, and he can trace his current role as the owner of Better Bodies on Campbell back to those early experiences. He and his fellow certified trainers do their best to help their clients feel comfortable, whether they're ripped or just setting out on the path toward six-pack abs. They focus on training clients to better function during their favorite or daily activities, from golf to walking up stairs to riding a dolphin to work. While working out, members can enjoy amenities such as private locker rooms and steam rooms, a complimentary towel service, and nutritional counseling.
Tucson Racquet & Fitness Club's clinic will meet every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for five straight weeks (a $90 value). Lessons are taught by expert instructors and consist of intense hitting drills, strategy, footwork, girthy grunts, and supervised play. With a 4:1 student-instructor ratio, you'll always have watchful eyes to monitor your progress and make sure you're not sneaking in corked racquets. Regardless of one's swing swagger, all players are placed into compatible groups based on ability and the number of rings on their torso stump. By clinic's end, rookie racqueteers will transform into veteran volley maestros that propel slingshot swings with a Bruce Lee accuracy (Lee was actually a much better tennis player than he was a martial artist).
Ignite Fitness’s expert trainers help clients eradicate unwanted weight through a trifecta of group fitness classes, one-on-one personal training, and nutrition coaching. Their signature boot camps do much of the calorie torching. Filled with quick bursts of cardio and strength training, workouts change each day to ensure that muscles never fall into a predictable routine. Instructors also lead yoga and cycling classes, which add to the variety while also targeting their own specialized muscle groups. While much of their focus remains on group classes, instructors also take time to help guests achieve individual goals, scheduling both private personal-training sessions and rehabilitation sessions.

Power House Pilates instructor Lorraine Edminster seeks to expand the physical strength and range of motion of her students with workouts based on the teachings of Ron Fletcher. Fletcher’s modern Pilates discipline, known as Fletcher Work, relies heavily on slow, dissected movements and percussive breathing techniques, which require practitioners to respire with sound and to the rhythm of the Batman theme song. Each 55-minute private lesson convenes within the calming beige walls of a private studio, where students toughen cores both on the mat and with the help of specialized equipment. Over the course of three sessions, exercises can progressively define abdominals through increased resistance and by drawing on a six-pack in Sharpie.
