Originally built to sail around the world, the New Horizons motorsailer now spends its days providing Maine hospitality to its guests while gliding along the scenic Northeastern coast of the United States. After boarding the sailboat, groups can take in the sweeping views of the New York Harbor, the Hudson River, and past the Statue of Liberty, while sipping drinks and savoring treats such as the classic Maine lobster roll, which can be purchased on board. Seafarers may also embark on special voyages, such as Lobster Day Sail picnics. With its spacious design, semi-private upper deck, and modern sound system, the New Horizons can handle events that range from large family gatherings to old-fashioned ocean-drinking contests.

Several times throughout the day, Statue Cruises ferries depart from Liberty State Park in New Jersey or Battery Park in New York and haul groups to an iconic symbol of freedom: the Statue of Liberty. So long as the statue isn't away on vacation, passengers have the chance to hop off at Ellis Island and explore the statue's inner-workings. They can wind their way up to the statue's crown, a climb that includes 393 steps?or the equivalent of a 27-story building. But even if Statue Cruises customers choose to stay on the ground, they can still enjoy the inspiring sights of Ellis Island. Plus, the company's harbor cruises boast magnificent views, as well, including of Governors Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, and more.

At the ASA-certified True North Sailing School, students learn to safely navigate vessels through wind and water during 21-hour basic sailing courses. The program blends classroom time with training on the water, and along the way, students learn to steer, name the different parts of the boat, and measure the wind's direction. Other, complementary classes teach sailors about more advanced sailing skills and spring fashion's new lifejackets. And for those looking for a sailing adventure, the school leads group excursions to tropical locales like the Caribbean, where the water temperature is always 75 degrees.

Offshore Sailing exposes participants to founders Steve and Doris Colgate’s years of water-navigating, knot-tying experience. The couple actively participates in several national boards and committees and competes in numerous races. This year marks the school’s 47th year in business. Budding sailors will participate in a two-hour lesson with up to three other students, ensuring individual attention and personal dolphin-speak translations from knowledgeable instructors on a sleek, award-winning Colgate 26 sailboat. The lesson will provide novice seafarers with the basic skills to sail with confidence, just like it has for more than 115,000 other graduates.

Love for New York's harbor, iconic skyline, and renowned bridges resulted in the introduction of New York Water Taxi's black-and-yellow-checkered fleet of vessels in 2002. The eco-conscious crew first began by chauffeuring passengers between Brooklyn and downtown, but the business quickly expanded as locals and tourists demanded to see all of New York's mammoth manmade beauty such as the city skyline, Brooklyn Bridge, and Ellis Island from its treasured natural waterways.

Partnered with Circle Line Downtown, the fleet doubled in capacity and continued the tradition of ferrying passengers to explore the best sights and sounds of the city from the spacious view of a top deck. Knowledgable and entertaining guides narrate tours while patrons can indulge in a cash bar that provides refreshments along the way. Popular touring sites include Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, Times Square/Broadway, Hudson River Park, and South Street Seaport, to name a few. Statue Express and SHARK speedboat thrill ride grant passengers views of iconic sites, including the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Governors Island, and the former site of the World Trade Center.
