The instructors at Perfect Balance Fitness & Martial Arts Training strive to create a happy marriage between Eastern and Western philosophies. Master Al Agon draws from the discipline and fitness ideals of ancient martial arts techniques and modernizes them with instruction tailored to help kids build discipline and focus in school and professionals cope with stresses at work. To earn a black belt, students must exhibit devotion not only at the gym but also in other important aspects of life, such as relationships and school work, striving toward a lifetime of fitness and overall contentment. In addition to the martial arts program, the venue also hosts intense kickboxing classes in which students pummel punching bags until they agree to share the secrets of withstanding a pummeling. One-on-one personal training sessions also adhere to Agon's training philosophy and are tailored to help clients meet their individual wellness goals.
The inspiring trainers at each MetaBody location lead troops of workouteers in results-oriented workouts several times weekly. Sweat sessions utilize a variety of exercises and disciplines to produce full-body results in a supportive environment, ideal for beginners and hard-core core-hardeners alike. During any class, motivational instructors will use the instinctual distrust of routine to their advantage. Begin a day of litigating with a refreshing early-morning boot-camp session, or wind down by burning evidence and pounds with a late-evening yoga class. Muscles are kept guessing with new and challenging moves during each session, so participants never fall into a boring, ineffective routine, such as regular teeth brushing. In addition to the fitness classes, students receive a success guide to help prepare for imminent pound loss, a nutrition guide, and a $100 gift certificate for individual coaching. Because the pass sets a 5 or 10-class cap at any given location, roving fitness mavens can further shake up their workout regimens by vetting a series of classes or instructors that work best for them.
Julio Anta first told his father that he wanted to be a professional martial artist and bodybuilder at age 7. He dedicated the next several decades of his life to mastering his craft, immersing himself in disciplines including judo, kung fu, and tae kwon do. However, solitary training just wasn’t cutting it. Julio was compelled to share his understanding of self-defense and physical conditioning, and soon, a studio was born.
As the owner of Anta's Fitness and Self Defense, Julio empowers his students with a combination of practical self-defense classes and inspiring fitness-based workouts. The studio embraces a number of diverse martial arts, and uses a modern understanding of fitness and physiology to teach the timeless techniques and philosophies that define each style.
The schedule features these self-defense sessions along with fitness-oriented classes that tone muscles and improve cardiovascular health with Pilates techniques, kettlebell workouts, and games of Red Rover in the studio's wind tunnel. Additionally, the instructors offer programs for children and teenagers that nurture budding self-control and confidence in a supportive environment.
At Miami Wing Chun Kung Fu School, head instructor Dennys shares 30 years of martial arts experience with his students in classes that take a modern approach to fitness. Fitness courses build an exercise regiment around moves found in kung fu, boxing, and kickboxing, mixing in intervals of plyometric and isometric exercise. Dennys designs each workout not only to develop stronger, healthier bodies, but also to encourage students' confidence in their own abilities to grow over time. Also available are Wing Chun Kung Fu classes, where instructors use a unique method to teach the original system to students.
Recognizing the interdependence of fitness and martial arts, Thump Fight Gym & Fitness Center married the two, inspiring patrons of all ability levels to hone their combat skills while making strides toward an overall healthier lifestyle. The trainers and certified exercise physiologists lead martial-arts classes including boxing, muay thai, and jujitsu, challenging fighters to face off in the regulation-size boxing ring or the half cage?which has proven inadequate for housing feral exercise bikes. During each class, students burn calories and learn practical and potentially lifesaving self-defense skills. To supplement the combat training, the instructors also lead yoga and Pilates classes, spinning, kettlebell training, and CrossFit classes. The gym also accommodates solo workout routines with a weight-training zone and functional fitness equipment such as oversize tires and climbing ropes.
With multiple certifications from the NRA and hand-to-hand combat expertise, it's no surprise Miami Shooters Club instructors are in demand - they've even taught seminars at the Miami-Dade Police Department. In private lessons and small group classes, they school clients on how to use firearms safely in almost any situation.
One showcase of instructors' skills is the concealed-weapon-certificate class, which takes place at Miami Shooters Club's University Park facility. Designed for complete beginners and expert sharpshooters alike, the course covers how to take a proper stance, grip the firearm, aim, and pull the trigger, as well as discussing some of the unique legal issues and ethical questions associated with concealed carry. At the end of the course, students safely discharge a weapon under instructor supervision, as required by Florida law.
