At Bath Junkie, shopping is an interactive experience. Upon entering the store, clients peruse bath products, including scrubs and lotions, and pick a base. Then they sniff and hachoo through more than 200 scents, identifying one, two, or three fragrances and a color for their product. With the client's personalized recipe in hand, a beauty expert whips up the formula and readies it for sale. Each product is crafted to minimize harm to the environment, and Bath Junkie offers paraben-free hair products, recyclable containers, and kisses on both cheeks from Mother Nature herself.
Nadeau characterizes its furniture as "with a soul" because it's true artisan work: handcrafted from wood rather than mass-produced from gasket pylons. Showcase fine china and live gerbils in a mahogany regal glass-door cabinet ($372), or in a hefty, finely trimmed narrow bookcase with drawer ($197). Or, display a new moving picture box on a bobbin leg console table ($116). Furniture comes in a myriad of stains and colors, and many pieces are one-of-a-kind. Nadeau's ever-changing inventory includes a variety of sturdy dining room tables and chairs. Prices and selection may vary due to rotating inventory, but pieces are always fully assembled and ready to welcome any tuckered torso or mound of toothbrushes.

Drew Johnson and his friend Jordan harbored a secret dream to own a thrift shop from the earliest years of their friendship, as far back as middle school. They schemed for years, and when a space opened in the heart of the community where they both grew up, they didn’t hesitate. The duo opened Urban Thrift, stocking it with recycled and reusable clothing, jewelry, appliances, and furniture.
Though they keep it spotlessly clean, Drew and Jordan still celebrate the raw, urban feel of their space. “Our dressing room utilizes cinder blocks and gas piping, our ceiling is exposed, our floor is unfinished concrete, and that’s how we like it,” said Drew. They don’t forget the community that fostered them and their dream, either, giving donations to local churches and school clubs.
