Patrons at Elements Massage pair up with the therapist best qualified to address specific personal issues and concerns. Therapists then spend time with clients, gathering information about their conditions before customizing massages. During the massage, the therapists intuitively blend a variety of modalities, such as deep tissue, Swedish, and trigger-point therapy.

Throughout the process, the therapist keeps communication going. The team uses a system by which clients can communicate the desired level of pressure; level 1 corresponds to long, light strokes over superficial muscles, and level 4 uses some force to root out embedded knots. Through this system, the therapist can get at all depths of tension while remaining well within the client?s comfort zone.

A passion for wellness powers Jill Breier morning, noon, and night, whether she’s volunteering at Red Cross blood drives or the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer or performing therapeutic massages. This certified massage therapist draws upon training from the Essex Group Institute for Massage and Bodywork as she tailors her techniques to the needs of each client, including moms-to-be and cancer patients.

Jill's Swedish massages teem with circular friction, gentle taps, and strokes that glide across the body, whereas her foot-reflexology sessions apply pressure solely on the soles to stimulate body organs and recount how each little piggy went to the market. Aromatherapy and hot-stone sessions draw on soothing basalt stones and oils, which come in calming scents such as lavender and energizing scents such as eucalyptus, to invigorate the senses. When customizing a massage to an individual client's needs, Jill and her team use a holistic approach to ease pain, promote mobility, and enhance the flow of nutrient-rich blood, leaving bodies as charged up as Edison's Roomba.

Q&A with Aytul, Founder-director

People go to spas to forget about the outside world. How does your decor help create an atmosphere where visitors can unwind?

The entire spa is quiet and calming, and the decor is simple and soothing. Because we are located on the second floor, we have a private and secluded ambiance.

What's the most common beauty mistake you see people make? What would you recommend they do instead?

Covering skin imperfections, such as black heads, breakouts and skin lesions, with lots of make up. To me, healthy and radiant skin is more beautiful than anything else. Start taking care of your skin instead of covering it up.

How did you get started in the industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?

I've always been interested in health, beauty, and well-being, but I studied and worked in different fields for long time. I found out that this is the industry that could integrate all the subjects I'm passionate about. Now I love and enjoy what I am doing.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

As we say, "beauty comes from within." Adding a positive attitude in to our daily routine makes everything easier. Start your day with good intentions and positive thoughts, and let your inner beauty shine through your skin. Be the first one who smiles, because "when you smile at the world, the whole world smiles back."

The meteoric growth of Massage Envy has led to more than 800 spa locations and a healthy share of limelight from printed media buzz to promotions on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Doctors. Its experts have kneaded more than 50 million backs using modalities that range from the gliding strokes of Swedish massage to the targeted pressure of deep-tissue massage. Although the spa treats a wealth of clients, each Massage Envy session is personalized to individual needs. While indulging in prenatal, hot-stone, or trigger-point-therapy massages, clients can also request the soothing mint and rosemary essential oils of aromatherapy or the addition of warming and cooling products that help decrease inflammation and ease pain.

In addition to staffing massage therapists, the spas employ skincare experts who wield Murad products for four kinds of facials. Clients can treat sensitive skin to mild exfoliation or opt for anti-aging facials with glycolic acid before attempting to order off the kids’ menu at a diner.
