Owner Alicia Ryan has always lived and breathed beauty. "I think it all began back with the Barbie dolls," she laughs. She comes by it honestly: "Most of the females in my family are all cosmetologists." Her salon includes six styling areas, where a team of stylists specializes in Keratin Complex hair-smoothing treatments. Sheltered from the open salon, Alicia offers Dermalogica facials, body treatments, and subversive antifrizz pamphlets in a private treatment room.
Though Runway Hair Salon isn't on an actual runway, its expert stylists create designs that could star in fashion shows. That's because they stay up-to-date on trends and use sought-after products including Brazilian Blowout to grant their clients trend-setting looks. They also offer spa services such as waxing and mani-pedis that complement cuts and highlights and pamper clients with packages that include makeup applications.
Long mirrors wrap around the red-and-black walls like a racing stripe, reflecting polished wood floors and glowing flat-screen TVs. Amid these relaxing accents, the shop's skilled barbers offer sleek scissor cuts to flatter the features. Straight-razor lather shaves pair with a relaxing hot-towel treatment or botanical tea-tree oil mask to refresh the complexion. The shop also features a complementary women's salon for coloring and formal styling needs.
Albert Joseph Hair Studio may be on the newer side, but its stylists and aestheticians have a lot of experience. Owner Albert Sackal has been tending to heads for more than 18 years. He works alongside stylists that have been in the business for decades and yet still take continuing-education classes to stay on top of their game. He also works with experienced aestheticians that beautify faces and nails using products from such lines as G.M. Collin skincare. In addition to hair, skin, and nail services, they perform waxings and makeup applications for special events.
