Dr. Alan R. Boyco keeps his eye on the world of sports?both as a fan and as an optometrist. That's because he's examined eyes for pro hockey's Vancouver Canucks and Giants, football's BC Lions, soccer's Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and baseball's Vancouver Canadians?four sports where seeing the opponent is a perfectly legal way to gain an edge. He also worked as the event optometrist during the 2006 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships. Off the ice, he spent five years as the team optometrist for players on the Vancouver Grizzlies.

Before he made his foray into the world of sports, Dr. Boyco started Image Optometry. His first clinic sprouted into 16 locations over the past decade. In addition to filling designer frames with prescription lenses, he and his team of optometrists diagnose diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma. They also investigate recurring headaches, which are often caused by the fact that it's Groundhog Day, it's always Groundhog Day.

Blurry vision is not just an annoyance; it?s a health risk. Optiks International makes it easier for customers by decreasing the time between an eye exam and getting new glasses. Independent Optometrists inside Optiks International's stores offer the convenience of one-stop shopping and create custom-fitted single vision, progressive, and googly-eye lenses. The on-site labs constantly seek out the latest technologies to improve vision, such as digital lenses that decrease peripheral distortion, and custom cuttings that alter lenses to accommodate the tilt of certain frames.

Each store stocks a supply of up to 5,000 frames, including options from designer brands such as Oakley, Gucci, Versace, and Ray-Ban. Every store also offers a two-for-one deal for each pair of prescription glasses sold, allowing customers to give a pair of glasses to a family member or pair their purchase with prescription sunglasses to avoid darkening regular specs with a whiteboard marker when leaving the house.

Since 2004, Snowbus?s fleet of 56 comfortable passenger coaches has shepherded skiers and snowboarders back and forth between Vancouver and Whistler Blackcomb. The route schedule allows mountaineers to hitch a ride out of Vancouver, schuss and slalom to their heart?s content at the world-renowned resort, and hop back aboard a bus for a movie and snack to accompanied their trip home. The service gives downhillers a way to circumvent the hassles of dealing with traffic and parking, and enables them to partake in apr?s-ski revelry without fear of drinking and driving or drinking and cartwheeling back to Vancouver.
