An almost-40,000-square-foot indoor soccer complex, Salmon Creek Indoor Sports Arena facilitates heel-based competition with its year-round lineup of soccer leagues, skill-development programs, and open-field pickup games for all ages. Part-time Pelés can sign up for a yearly membership ($15) and receive an ID card with their picture on it that allows them to register for activities and prevents retired World Cup mascots from stealing their identity. Individuals can mix it up with different teams randomly assembled by arena staff during the weekly open-play sessions for coed adults ($5), youths ($5), and women ($8). Previously assembled supergroups can register for league play and test their skills against local teams made up of the nonsinging members of the Osmond family.

Michael Lary and Guruhans Kroesen?cofounders of The Source Climbing Center?create a pleasurable indoor ambiance for their clientele of outdoorsy climbing enthusiasts. The building, developed specifically to be a climbing center, keeps members busy with top-rope and lead climbing walls, plus 1,200 feet of bouldering terrain. They designed their air-conditioned rock scaler's paradise with a wall of east-facing windows 32 feet tall, allowing early morning sun to wash over visitors enjoying daybreak climbs, just as they do when climbing a faraway mountain or helping the Mount Rushmore presidents floss.

A short online video presentation and a computer-generated animated tour provide a closer look at the building's design features.

I & G Golf Range gives golfers ample space to address holes in their golf game and develop consistent, dependable swings at a driving range with flagstick targets marked with distances. Visitors collect their allotment of range balls and tee them up on one of the covered mat stalls or, when weather permits, on one of the grass tee stations. Sending golf balls into lower orbit or toward flagsticks scattered at various distances about the range helps players master distance control and understand why ships fly flags to hinder the aim of nervous cannoneers.
