The founders of Fitness 4 Success established their business as a family-fitness facility so that they could help provide solutions to the growing instances of obesity among Canadians, especially children. In addition to physical-fitness programs designed for adults and kids and teens, the staff trains athletes in developing agility and endurance for specific sports such as hockey, basketball, and soccer. Because the staff trainers see themselves as ambassadors for all aspects of healthy living, they conduct educational programs for kids in elementary and secondary schools as well as full-day summer camps filled with activities such as Zumba, hiking, and meditation.
Vaughan Sportsplex sprawls its diversified athletic facilities across a 20,000-square-foot plot of land on Woodbridge's Westcreek Drive. Competitive and recreational athletes report to three indoor sports fields to engage in myriad sports from friendly touch football sessions on FIFA-rated X-Treme turf to more unique diversions such as full-field Nerf dart lazer tag. Vaughan Sportsplex also organizes league competition open to nearly all ages and skill levels, including adult competition in co-ed volleyball or men's soccer as well as kids' leagues in floor hockey and competitive sand-castle demolition.
At Regency Fitness, a staff of amicable trainers introduces new members to their 17,000-square-foot facility, stocked with TV-mounted Precor cardio machines, weight equipment, and free weights. In group fitness classes, they also help members stretch into Hatha yoga poses, amp up cardio workouts with Zumba's Latin-inspired dance-party moves, and pummel punching bags during Box Fit sessions. After workouts, steam rooms stand by to melt sore muscles and snowmen with poor judgment.
Founded by two York Region teachers in 2013, Rouge Valley Sports Camp fosters independence, emphasizes teamwork, and encourages critical thinking. But campers may not even realize they're acquiring those skills, since they'll be too busy playing basketball, baseball, soccer, or another sport. The camp also offers wilderness training and arts-and-crafts time. Indeed, RVSC's main program comes stocked with a diverse roster of activities. But the camp also offers activity-specific programs, with plans to expand into such areas as archery, rock climbing, and music in the future.
