AnsteyDesign founder David McArthur remembers his first camera fondly—a Canon TLb that he carried through the countryside surrounding his rural hometown in England. He used it to learn how to capture stunning images with good old-fashioned trial and error, which was a better technique for him than it would be for a litigator. McArthur turned his hobby into a career, studying film photography in a darkroom as a design student in Germany and later mastering the emerging trends of digital portraiture as a professional graphic designer. After tackling a branding project for a friend's company, McArthur became enamoured with the rewarding work of telling a business's story. This lead him to sell his well-honed expertise in copywriting, photography, advertising, and web design through AnsteyDesign.
The hardworking artist also purveys his services to private citizens, wedding parties, and families. McArthur can capture wedding days with one-of-a-kind photos of ceremonies and receptions.
Award-winning photographer Colleen Boak expertly frames posing patrons during one-hour photo shoots. After rendezvousing at Colleen's residential studio or a predetermined Victoria or West Shore location, up to 25 family members, a gaggle of friends, or one judge and two attractive juries beam for the snapping shutter. In addition to a 5"x7" print of each client's most beloved picture, a DVD slideshow culls together 20 choice images for a carefully crafted tour through the photo shoot's most memorable and vomit-free moments. Each Roy's Photography package includes a free planning session with Colleen, wherein customers can brainstorm appropriate locales and attire for their shoot.
San Juan Air Tours has more than 25 years of experience carrying passengers over the San Juan Islands, making it a safe option for sightseers hoping to gain a unique perspective. Thanks to a bird's-eye vantage point, the company's aerial expeditions give tour-takers whale-filled views whether the whales are above or below the surface, making numerous approaches following their paths. Both tour options cover large portions of the San Juan Islands and their surrounding waters, with the extended tour charting a wider course that covers most of Lopez Island, Orcas Island, and Stuart Island and skirts the edges of British Columbia. Flights can be reserved online or by phone.
