Bike Palm Springs gives day-trippers the retro-styled cycling essentials they need to tour the neighborhood on two wheels. The shop's tandem and premium bicycles are bedecked with a Fifties flair, as evidenced by their softly curving frames, handlebar tassels, and propensity to threaten inconsiderate drivers with a knuckle sandwich. A tandem bike also allows one half of your Beat poetry quartet to snap in unison as you tear across the level Palm Springs terrain. Celebrity abodes and architectural sites give you plenty to look at during a carefree day of soaking up vitamin D and clearing the cobwebs from your cardiovascular condition. Helmets and locks are included with your rental.
Since taking over and renaming the surf-and-turf shop in 2003, owner Sandra Dee continues to provide beach-goers with seaside accessories and rentals. Some aquanauts glide harmoniously over surging swells of water with one-day surfboard rentals, and others may opt to helm oceanic rocket ships coincidentally shaped like kayaks as they coast through local mounds of churning foam. Alternatively, landlubbers can stick to the shoreline, travel through town, or start a short-term bike gang with daily bicycle rentals. Though not included in this deal, Raw Skin Surf Shack also offers apparel and accessories for adults, kids, and pets.
Awarded a spot on Bicycle Retailer's Top 100 Bicycle Retailers 2010 list, Nytro Multisport's knowledgeable staff of bicycle mechanics diagnoses and repairs two-wheeled troubles. During the basic tune-up, a team of pedal-pod pediatricians tenderly tends to your velocipede with a drive-train lube and adjustment, inspection and adjustment of front and rear brakes, an axel-skewers and bolts inspection and tightening, and a tire and tire-pressure check. Furthermore, front and rear hubs, seat-clamp bolt, seat-binder bolt, and stem-clamp bolts are all adequately adjusted. Inspection of pedal crank-arm attachments, a quick frame clean, and a lollipop for well-behaved bicycles completes the comprehensive check-up. With mechanics versed in bicycle bereavements of all types, Nytro cares for bicycles in-house and usually have repairs complete in one to three days, lessening the chance of owners falling prey to segway seduction. Parts are not included.
The StreetStrider combines the active exercise of an elliptical machine with the untamable motion of wild bicycles. Riders partake in a full-body workout as they propel the three-wheeled machine with a fluid, elliptical motion. Joints relish the low-impact exercise, while hands control dual hand brakes, change gears with twist grip shifters, and turn aircraft-grade aluminum frames toward grocery stores, scenic paths, or jealous gyms.
Within Revolution Bike Shop’s warehouse storefront, expert mechanics true wheels and build bikes on the shop's floor in full view of customers, thus hinting at their mission to form an accessible and egalitarian community of bikers. In addition to showcasing their labors, mechanics collaborate with customers to design and build their dream bikes, and the staff sponsors a bike team and organizes weekend rides. They also help budding cyclists navigate the vast inventory of apparel and accessories and hone in on the ideal bike for leisurely weekend rides or high-speed ice-cream-truck chases.
Like many great inventions, the first ElliptiGO sprang from necessity. When co-inventor and former Ironman triathlete Bryan Pate could no longer run due to sports injuries, he turned to his friend and future business partner, Brent Teal, to help devise a low-impact exercise apparatus that he could use outdoors. The resulting machine, the ElliptiGO, combines the motion of an elliptical with the road-ready nature of a bicycle for an easy-to-use exercise device that’s been featured in The New York Times and Self.
